Nice mod. No smoke will be leaking out of that door. I know what you’re feeling, just sit back and admire your handy work. It’s just like after you mow your lawn 😊👍🏾.

Great content!! Here’s a tip.. to get an absolute straight cut line for the door access.. use a good sized piece of angle iron to scribe your line, Thanks for your time to make these videos!!

Hi J.P. Just installed my new DigiQ DX3. Haven't used it yet, but I was wondering how it has been working for you? You put out some great content. Thanks.

Just found your channel JP, awesome videos so far. I have a 22" WSM & 26" kettle. I was looking at getting a better smoker like a Lone Starz offset, but you inspired me to just mod up my WSM. I appreciate the mod videos, cheers from Texas!

Thanks Henry, appreciate you watching and commenting. I’m glad this video has encouraged you to modify your Weber. It is so much fun and having your own unique customized Weber is pretty cool making it so much more easier to use and fit your bbq needs. Glad i could help but don’t let that discourage you from checking out Lone Star Grillz offset smokers. Lone Star Grillz Smokers are the Cadillacs of the industry and the bbq that comes out of it is superb. Appreciate your comments and thanks again.

I certainly can appreciate the craftsmanship here sir. The door is definitely one of the things with wsm that I felt could use a bit more work.

Just found you sir! Fantastic channel. Been having a lot of fun watching you mod your smoker. That new fire door is awesome. Any bigger and it could be an offset firebox itself. Lol. Subbed and liked!

Welcome aboard! Glad you found us. That is one nice little smoker and that door is amazing. The best part it makes loading charcoal a little bit easier while maintaining a nice seal tight fit. Thanks again for watching and commenting.

Looking good JP! Got an 18 too. Couple questions. Without water pan, are you using something else to catch your drippings? And are you able to get a full brisket on there?
@JPBBQ4 жыл бұрын
thanks @moegreen40. I am using the fire dial in place of the water pan. Got it from www.smokermods.com Not sure if I can fit a full size brisket. Be fun to find out though. Thanks again.

Just saw your channel - my door arrived today - one question - what advantage/disadvantage you find with the Fire Dial - looks like you have that instead of the water pan ?
@JPBBQ3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching the channel. I got the fire dial because when i use the oversized charcoal baskets the standard water pan wont fit or it would be laying right on top of the coals. Using the Firedial give me that space between the basket and the dial. Works great with large baskets. Plus i think it does a better job with heat distribution. Thanks again
@stangbang1003 жыл бұрын
Do you prefer the fire dial over the water pan? I just got my 22" WSM and have got a few mods on it and was looking into that same fire dial.
@JPBBQ3 жыл бұрын
yes, work very well. I prefer it for longer cooks when Im using my larger charcoal baskets. Water pan won't fit do to the size of the baskets. Thanks again for watching and commenting Aaron.

Thank you for the great videos! I'm buying most of the mods you have installed. I'm looking at buying the lid handle that you installed. You mentioned it was hard to work with the handle to get it to fit the 18.5 lid. Can you explain how you got it to bend enough to fit? Thank you!
@JPBBQ4 жыл бұрын
thanks for watching. Yes the lid handles are designed to go on a flat surface so I had to hammer them a bit in order to round them and fit on the round body of the weber. I think I just used a rounded piece of pipe and hammered it in order to build that curve into it. hope that helps and appreciate you watching.
@apow88834 жыл бұрын
@@JPBBQ Thank you for replying! I decided to order the XT Spring Handle with Mounting Bracket 5". It had a review from a guy that has a 18" WSM and he said they fit okay. I really didn't want to have to hammer on a brand new product to get it to work. I hope Island BBQ decides to make a proper handle for the 18 WSM.

Uh-oh, did you paint the inside? Is that safe, food-wise? I left the inside of mine unpainted and it’s now black with bbq smoke/oil.
@JPBBQ4 жыл бұрын
That is a good point. I will be doing a control burn in it first and season it with canola oil before I put any food in it. I did not paint the inside heavily, just a light coat figured it would get covered with smoke and oil. thanks for the tip.

@JPBBQ3 жыл бұрын
Appreciate you watching Jerry. Your absolutely right, the Weber Smokey Mountain works good right out of the box. But the mods make it look cool. However I don’t think I can do without the lid hinge. I love that thing. Tell Harry I say hi. Thanks again.
