The metal detector can find monocle fragments, sword fragments, hat fragments, and watch fragments. Trade 3 of the same one at the same shop you buy the metal detector to get those customization items. As for the furry stuff, there also is the option to bark in different ways and also to wag your tail, but honestly that’s just fun to do regardless if you’re a furry or not. Most lobbies who are 18+ will say they are but it would be nice to tag them or something. Been loving the game after 63 hrs lol

I got so hooked on Dredge when I bought it that I blitzed the whole thing in a couple days. Pretty fun, though it could get repetitive and there were some MAJOR issues with the economy, though I think those have been fixed now. Not a perfect game by any stretch, but definitely worth a play for any fan of fishing games!

i’m obsessed with dredge and honestly it’s a huge reason why I got webfishing in the first place. I will say that dredge is definitely a story focused game, rather than a gameplay focused game. which not to say the gameplay is bad by any means, but if you prefer the kind of gameplay webfishing has and you don’t really care about storylines, then it might not be for you

I'm pretty sure the purpose of the ripple spots is that they're basically insta-catch spots. When one spawns, if you cast your line into it you'll instantly get a bite. Still rolls on the same catch table as normal, so if you're not using bait that has the ability to catch - for example - shining fish, you're probably not going to get a shining fish. But it does make it far faster! :D

I noticed that as long as you know where the four corners of the map are, you can find your way to just about any part of the map. If you jump on a mushroom just right you'll go straight up and down instead of flying off into the distance. Looking for the light house it represents the front of the map, like a southern land mark. You'll always know that two of the corners are to the left and right of that light house. From there you can turn around and connect those corners at a right angle to the top of the map. The top of the map always has a wall of trees with a secondary wall to the left. The left most part of the map is the most confusing part of the map. It has lots of Easy circles to get lost in. The edge map water fall is a great way to know you are near the top left corner of the map. It faces diagonally towards the dock shop. Going away from the spectral skeleton will always lead to a bridge. Both bridges connect to the same land segment. Walking in a straight line will always lead you to the ladder. Going down the lader will lead you to the light house. Following the coast line away from the light house will always lead you to the dock shop. To find spawn head towards the light house. Most of the time you'll end up finding spawn, but if you don't look for the the T dock. Go towards the bate shop next to the T dock. Go left of the shop, away from the path. I always end up at spawn like that.

Found one other comment mentioning Final Fantasy 14 / FFXIV. I think you have to play through the main RPG (combat) campaign once to unlock every area (and thus, fish) and pay a subscription, but there is so much fishing content that you can honestly treat it like a standalone fishing game. I loved catching every single fish in it, and it took months.

You might like “a short hike”. Fishing isn’t its primary goal, but it’s very intrinsic in the game especially if you like the aspect of collecting. “Dredge” is another with the goal of mainly collecting fish.

mildly off topic but i still think some of my favorite fishing games were legend of zelda ocarina of time which for NO REASON AT ALL lol had a fantastic fishing mechanic, spent so long trying to catch the fish that crawls on the bottom -- and final fantasy 15, where i'm pretty sure i spent longer fishing than playing the actual game. Yes, noctis, its totally healthy to spend like a week straight fishing with no naps. saving the world can wait til NEXT week. as a result i love fishing games but hate 'animal crossing' style fishing, i'm very glad to see the mechanic here is at least a little more involved!
