Purchase My Webflow Mastery Course: www.flowlibrar... In todays video I want to explain why you'll see an id attached to grid child elements that make use of the child controls!

I noticed the long IDs also appear in this case: If you have a grid and inside that grid you duplicate elements (like a div block), webflow automatically generates those long IDs from the third element and so on. Even if you are not using the "Grid child" settings, So what I've been doing to prevent that is: If I need to duplicate something inside a container that is a "grid", I convert that container to "flex" first, then I add/duplicate whatever I need to, and when it's ready I turn it back to "grid", This way it doesn't generate the long IDs.

Thanks for this video! Any idea why the IDs are so long?

Something else I just noticed, while digging deeper... If you open the Element Settings (D) panel and give the element an explicit ID name, it of course writes that as the new ID in the HTML. However, it converts the previous ID (the one with the super long string) into a class. :) Interesting.

And... if you delete that explicit ID name and republish, that super long string ID comes back, and the class is removed.
