Webinar - Road Crime and the Myth of the Lifetime Sentence

More than twice as many people are killed on the UK’s roads each year than as a result of murder and terrorism combined.
People who kill with guns, knives and other lethal weapons get long custodial sentences - sending out strong messages to society that violent offences will not be tolerated, and deterring future offenders.
But in contrast, dangerous drivers who kill or seriously injure innocent people get far shorter custodial sentences, and some avoid jail altogether.
More than 120 people joined us for this live webinar on January 24, 2024, addressing this unacceptable disparity in the UK justice system. The event was the first in a series of webinars as part of the Fix Our Broken Justice System campaign, launched by RoadPeace last year.

Polly Herbert, a Road Traffic Injury Lawyer, who was Calvin’s solicitor throughout the case, and is passionate about supporting road crash victims.
Nic Atkinson KC - A retired barrister and part-time judge, with a career spanning almost 50 years.
