@@LUXURYPREMIER I am from Ghana born and raised came to America when I was 19 I have also lived in Italy and France. You can’t tell me nothing my experience is bigger than yours so I know what I am saying when I say Ghana is better than these western countries. The freedom, peace of mind and respect you get in Africa as a black person, cannot be compared to anywhere in the world . I was fortunate to spend my life on 3 continents and traveled to over 20 countries the love in Ghana is genuine especially for a black person

@@Flower-ck2bs I know right! They all started by buying locally manufactured products in their respective countries however 'bad' the packaging and quality is. That is how they kept money circulating in their country and was able to build capital. Once they have the capital, they spread their wings; they set up shops in our countries with their products to collect our money and take back home. And of course, the packaging and quality improved eventually.

I am happy for her and anyone who can return home to the place of their ancestors, if they choose. But being old I also know that she brings with her, to Ghana, the knowledge and experience that she has been allowed to receive, thanks to her ancestors, from America. What would her life have been were she born and raised there? Thanks to the Internet, as the gentleman beside her is taking advantage of, she has the ability to live in Ghana and still make an affordable wage, for Ghana. It is wonderful to see, via KZbin, how the world is changing. Other countries have come so far but still slow enough to feel like community. America has lost a lot in it's corporate greed and loss of true capitalism. I lived in South Korea in the early 70's. Dirt roads, often just one main road, etc. Women had it harder than men and their value was less. South Korea is completely different now, economically, in many areas and has large investments in the US. People are leaving America today and were I younger I'd be in Mexico. I have relatives there somewhere. I wish you best. You have many options to you that others didn't have. Stay true.

Perhaps he was teased as a child about being African. If you recall, the media flooded the tv screens with images of poverty, starving children and war while omitting any positive images of the normal life in Africa. As a result, American children in schools said many cruel, humiliating things to children from Africa, calling them names and shaming them in the schools. I suspect the man coped with the cruelty he suffered by pretending he was from another place that was “more acceptable” to people in America. Have compassion for him… perhaps he will be able to overcome the past trauma and find himself as an adult.

Okay, let's get to the next level. I will encourage the returnees to start the next steps of using their experiences and knowledge to start developing Africa. So if you have a degree from Havard and worked at CNN; take a project, find the funding and the right folks and make a big statement. For instance, start a manufacturing of something very simple and export to USA and rest of Africa, like they do in Taiwan. An idea; Ghana is only 1,500 miles from Democratic Republic of Congo. Get a Chinese consortium together and manufacture phones in Ghana

Am all for moving back to Africa ( whichever African country you chose ) but do your planning first . Your biggest challenge will be financial . There must be an income to finance your life because Africa is becoming expensive. Buy land and build your home before you relocate Be sure you can adopt to the culture because the system is way different.

Just a brief history lesson in answer to your question of what to tell African Americans who do not want to claim African descent. A lot of American Blacks blame Africans for selling their ancestors into slavery. The truth is the first Black slaves were sent from Portugal and Spain to Haiti, and then some of the Haitian slaves were sold on to the Americas. Once Portugal, Spain, and the Caribbean could not provide enough slaves the slave ships headed to Africa. We are of African descent, blame the people who started it not Africans on the continent. The Blacks that were sent from Portugal and Spain were the descendants of the Moors who ruled that area from the 700s to the 1400s AD.

The question they should be asking is why they were sold. Secondly not all African tribes participated in the slave trade

It was Hebrew Israelites who were sold in the transatlantic slave trade, and not Africans. In 70AD, we fled from Israel and into Portugal/Spain, and then into Africa. The Africans did not want us there, so they helped the Europeans capture/remove us. We went into slavery, because we did not keep the commandments and statutes of The Most High (Deuteronomy 28). So maybe that's why some Black Americans say that they aren't African.

@@ms.charlotte4027 stop blaming Africans....it's was written it had to come to pass, Africans were used by God to fulfil his words.... if anything blame your ancestors for sacrificing children to moloch.

@@kabumanuw163LOL! Awww, I see that I hit a nerve, because you're all upset. But, I did say in my previous statement, that we went into slavery because of our disobedience of The Most High--so how is that blaming you??? However, it's A FACT that Africans sold Israelites, and that part of history will not be silenced by you taking offense. Good bye.

Africans didn’t sell each other, we were misused misled and misguided by those who pretended they were our so called friends but they were nothing but demons.
