This song belonged in a movie but in 1980 I was looking for Grace to make a hard rock album like she did with her 1981 album. Grace was the best female singer of the 1970s not linda ronstadt.

Slick always has me reduced to tears. This could be a Brel cover (done better by Slick)
@lusighfer2 жыл бұрын
It is not. It is a song written by Grace and unfortunately, the entire album is pretty weak. It's from Grace's first official solo album from 1980 entitled "Dreams".

@@lusighfer it is among my favorite albums and one that I believe shows off her vocal abilities well. It also is biographical-she has songs about recovering from addictions as well as a partner who she loved deeply and who she viewed as a positive force in her life.

This was a VERY odd single. It BARELY charted on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at just No. 95 in 1980. It’s unique, but I don’t care for it too much. Sounds like a Russian folk song from the 17 or 1800’s mixed with a slight look at, of course, Seasons. In fact, this was Grace Slick’s ONLY ever Billboard Hot 100 Chart Entry. Think about ALL of those huge hits with Jefferson Airplane and Starship, and yet this INCREDIBLY minor blip on the Billboard Hot 100 was her only ever Hot 100 charting song.
@pihoihoi3 жыл бұрын
It was at no. 12 in the Netherlands (this clip is from Dutch TV btw) , the Starship never even had any hit in the Netherlands! So there you go, tastes differ ♥

“Garden of Man” is my favorite song on the album, but “Seasons” was probably the only one that fit the time requirements of a single then.
