This is exactly what I was looking for. Explained in a way that's understandable. My phone is so full it's giving me issues and I don't want to lose my pictures. If its full, does that mean I won't be able to create a new folder with some pics on it? I realize I will have to do this like 10 at a time. I'm just afraid of losing my pics.

This method did not work with my iPhone 11. It worked on the iPad Pro and an iPhone SE. Please reply to this if you know why the iPhone 11 Files app could not see the USB drive. Thanks!

Well, the video was good but the device transfers the images in a HEIC format which requires a download to view. I just want to plug the usb in and look at the jpeg images. Is there a way to change this?

Trying to get the images off my phone using my laptop and imports, left everything connected, plugged in, open and even charging all night and it still didn't work! After multiple attempts! It says I don't have enough iCloud storage, which I am trying to open up by getting the photos OFF, but apple wants me to buy more storage space first... it has gotten me so frustrated! Everytime I put files like photos or videos from my phone to USB, it always doubles the files. I then have two files on my usb of the same photo for example. Why is this happening? 1. Just copy and paste the photos to the files app on your iPhone, and then you can transfer the photos and videos to the Photos app. 2. I suspect you have enabled raw photos on your iPhone and hence when you copy, it's copying both Veroh and a JPEG version of the photo. I could be wrong

This is a great video. My iPhone recognizes the flash drive and shows me the content but they are grayed out, like I cannot do anything with them. When I try to save an image to the same flash drive, it doesn't let me, Save button is grayed out. I am assuming this is due to the NTFS file format, I think it needs to be FAT32. I could test this but don't want to format the flash drive since I have large video files in it which FAT32 doesn't support.

For those saying that can’t see their Drives, It’s for iOS 13 and above. Also ur Drive must be formatted to exFat or Fat 32 but preferably exFat. NTFS formatted drives would never show, since it’s a Microsoft proprietary file system. So just format ur SSD/HDD or Flash drive to exFat on a laptop/ computer and you’re good to go.

Have to make sure you are transferring full size photos though as the iPhone stores reduced quality/size photos locally on the iPhone unless the photos app is set to keep originals locally on the phone. Otherwise you are copying low quality images to the USB drive.
