@Reddog12555 ай бұрын
Tip when using this drive are you must turn your phone or iPad off before disconnecting drive, if ssd drive doesn’t appear in files, you must hook it to a computer open file then shut file, then try with iPhone again should appear in files, these work with iPad iPhones but you have to follow these rules and it probably won’t hunt to wait a minute or two before starting to disconnect

@MarkHardstaff-pj1fo 4k footage is what I frequently need to send over. This is particularly difficult because I work as a performer on Cruise Ships and internet is nonexistent. Apart from that it’s so infuriating that they took this long to give a solution to Apple and PC users. Apple went out of their way to make things as difficult as possible for file transfer and I’m just glad that’s over.

This is a helpful video with a warning. Do not use these Sandisk drives. You might be ok if you have an older version 1 drive, but the new version 2 drives have a high failure rate. There are plenty of KZbin videos to back me up on this. I have experienced the pain of this personally. Luckily, I never back up to just one place.

I don’t ever leave comments like this but this is slightly misleading. Your thumbnail pic is an iPhone 13 and the phone you’re using for demo is a 15. The 15 has usb type C, the 13 has lightning, making the transfer process to an external hard drive different in terms of convenience. Unless you’re making this for views instead of being genuinely helpful, overall, this was and is a well-made video.

@@spillthegoods Thanks for replying! I spoke to Apple Support last week. The method they have told me to follow is: 1. Select the first image in your Photos Gallery that you want to transfer. And scroll down to last one (I am doing this year-wise). Hold the shift button as you select the last image. This will select all the images in between. 2. Connect an external HDD and make a suitably-named new folder, say 2021. Open the folder in Finder. 3, Go back to Photos on Macbook and click "File -Export-..."and select the folder you have created. Now all the images and videos will be deposited in the folder "2021" in the external Hard Disk Drive. 4. Theoretically, one can do this activity one shot, for all photos and videos in "Photos". This will download full resolution items, based on the selection you do. 5. Now you can delete the originals from the Photos Gallery on your Macbook.

@spillthegoods6 ай бұрын
Great question, with this process they are just copied across. You would then need to go into your device and delete from there. I will mention, as with any storage device it is important to have some redundancy. Meaning you don't want to have all your files saved in ONE location in case there is some kind of failure with your storage device. This can happen and that is a big bummer when you lose footage/photos that you wanted to keep.
