THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART AND SOUL. i’ve had this issue with my macbook from the jump about a year and a half ago. i’ve tried getting this issue fixed at the genius bar and even there they were no help. you seriously don’t even realize how much this helped, last semester i used youtube a lot for some of my classes which were online (the professors would upload their lectures here) and it was so hard for me to copy notes when the screen was constantly flickering. and it was so annoying trying to watch livestreams on youtube because my screen flickered even more on livestreams. thank you so much, this fixed it immediately.

Same here, have a brand-new, premium Lenovo Legion laptop since August 2023 and first noticed that stuff back then that was happening from time to time and at first thought it is some GPU issues. Havent noticed it on desktop apps as far as I am aware.

Getting the issue too. It’s only Chrome and only on youtube. Didn’t update GPU drivers recently so idk what caused it. The solution in this video works but I’m scared it’s GPU related. I downgraded my NVIDIA drivers and so far, I haven’t seen it even with Hardware Acceleration turned on in Chrome.

Just in case this is happening again now with newer computers, you can also find it under "system and performance" in the settings page. For me instead of appearing as "hardware acceleration" it appeared as "graphics acceleration." Pretty much other than that, really helpful video!

Actual guy here, not a bot. Genuinely thank you for this video, i've had this issue for quite some time now and i couldn't find ANYTHING that related to it. Turn on video > Checkermark boxes constantly flickering across the screen. I turned off hardware acceleration and it just stopped, even while I was watching mid-video, it just completely disappeared, it was almost scary. Cheers.

It was happening on Brave, but not on Firefox so I knew it was a browser issue. But I never would have guessed this was the fix. I almost didnt finish watching your video because when you got to the part about the hardware accelerator setting I figured mine was a shoe in since it was already on. But then I listened for just a few more seconds and voila, the most counterintuitive solution; to turn it off. But why? Who knows, but it works!

On AMD integrated GPUs it flickers too (Ryzen 4600g and 4650g). The only alternative soultion I found was to downgrade BIOS to 2021 year version. Or just use Firefox browser, no flicker there.

KZbin began to start flickering when there was a video running on my second monitor which is a WQHD and i started moving the mouse around the other screen and hovered above symbols or moved it around holding left click. After that i could not even watch a video on the first monitor because the flickering would not even stop there. This totally felt like a graphics or screen issue since this began when i installed the second monitor yesterday. I had two monitors before, but now both have more than 60hz. This must definetly be part of the reason this started to happen. Really awkward. So without any further grumbling and overthinking i thank you very much :D

Works like charm! Thanks very much I noticed the problem was on the browser and not my screen hardware when I screenshotted the flickered screen and pasted it on Paint but on Paint it appeared normal. That discovery helpred me narrows down the problem and found your solution!
