I should also mention that vegetable oil is not made of vegetables, it too is a seed oil. I grew up thinking they somehow made oil out of vegetables but one of the actual benefits of the internet corrected my beliefs. Also, canola oil was originally made for lubricating engines in Canada. Look at the history of how Canada tricked everyone into cooking with it. Its pretty despicable.

My suggestion, if you’re going to clean your air fryer with a dishwasher tablet make sure it has no chemicals or scent to it. One thing I’ve discovered is these scented tablets can make you sick, so stay safe when you cook. The one I use is 7th Generation free and clear. It has no smell. These haven’t made us sick liked the other ones did.

I made a note to buy a small squeeze bottle earlier today and forgot to go into that aisle. A few hours later at home I remembered I stored away two small vegan mayo (which does NOT even remotely mimic the flavor of real mayo at all !) squeeze bottles. I kept them, knowing they'd have some sort of future purpose---and pancake batter it is !

Is that the best one to use in an air fryer, because it solidifies? Curious because I just threw out my canola oil… I have coconut oil, avocado oil, and olive oil in my house both light and dark. I’ve been really trying to figure out all the best alternatives to all the bad stuff because I grew up in the 70’s when you ate everything on your plate used vegetable oil, corn oil, and margarine. We had homemade fries multiple times a week as well as no real butter margarine for everything, my mom made us homemade everything,we had vegetables and fruit every day. But we also had homemade baked goods every day. We didn’t over eat but my health is horrible diabetic, heart disease, kidney disease etc many many medical conditions. We don’t deep fry anything anymore but I know there’s some stuff that I used to make that my boys would love if I made it for them once in awhile. So I could use all of the advice I can get!😊

@@davidswan7019 I don't have an air fryer. I deep fry in coconut oil. I was diabetic/pre-diabetic. I went strict keto (under 30 grams of carbohydrates and NO sugar). Switched to healthy, non-inflammatory oils and got rid of all seed oils (canola, corn, vegetable). Two years later and 50 pounds lighter my A1C is 5.3, lipid profile is perfect and Blood Pressure under control. Four years later the same is true except I now am not as strict with my carbs. Still less than 50 grams of carbs. Food is medicine.

I really like these "kitchen tip" videos ... but I sure do miss the original format videos where you either showed several ways to prepare one type or cut of meat or produce, or showed the preparation of a full meal. Keep doing the tip videos, some of your ideas are truly amazing, but mix it up a bit with a meal prep video once in a while. Your cooking skills are inspirational, to say the least. One added tip on the sieve and paper filtering of frying oil: Do this while the oil is still fairly warm (not hot). Warm oil is less viscus and will seep through the paper towel faster.

I always used to get confused about the safe egg test until a teacher (40 yrs ago) said you only need to remember that float means "f'd (and she was a nun but she didn't say the whole word 😂) Also eggs that are half way up are fine to eat and make simple cakes and biscuits but not the best for meringue. For the best meringue you should only use the eggs that lay in the bottom of the container of water. And yes, I've never forgotten the egg test, or Sister Mary Paul 💜 p.s; love the nutcracker idea. I have arthritis in my thumbs and wrists which makes the usually squeezing of nutcrackers painful, thankyou 💜

WOW! LOTS of really great ideas in this video. Thank you. You should have told people to cover pancake squares before putting them in the freezer, or at least shortly after freezing, or they will dry out and get freezer burn. And if you are going to make banana skin tea, WASH WASH WASH the banana first! Pesticides, Apeel (won't come off with washing), bug debris of all kinds. And a lot of older eggs that are still good will float because they dry out, and loss of moisture makes them a little lighter. Best way is to crack and smell! But, WOW!

Another tip to save your knuckles ... at a sports or fishing supply store you can find gloves meant to save your hands when scaling fish. Even if you run your knuckles into the grater the glove protects from cuts and scrapes. If your box grater has a lid the glove can be stored right inside. If not just binder clip it on. Always right there available when time to grate.

In America most of our zip bags have metal in them and they spark in microwave. There are special bags you can buy to cook veggies in microwave though.

I don't know what kind of zipper bags Hope buys in America, but I have never seen a zip top bag with metal in it in America. Zip ties, that you use to close bags without a self closure, do contain metal. Also, I have been making potatoes in the microwave for years. I just put on top of a paper towel, poke each potato 3-4 times, and cook halfway, turn over, cook the rest of the way.

@@paulettek3682 the ziplock bags have something that sparks in microwave. Since I haven't tried it with new ones maybe they changed it.

#1 - Already knew that one. #2 - My mom did that all the time. #3 is a new one that I’ll have to try out. #4 - I do that one as well. I’ll just save time and say that most of these I already knew.

You don't have to wrap potatoes in paper towels to cook them in the microwave. Just poke some holes in the potato and put it in the microwave. It will cook beautifully in 5 minutes or so. It's my second favorite way to cook a baked potato. I still prefer cooking them in the oven if I have the time. Btw, you can do the same thing with sweet potatoes and beets. Just put the beets on a paper plate because you dont want beet juice in your microwave.

Just wrap potatoes in plastic wrap and microwave on high for 4 or 5 minutes or longer depending on size and quantity. BETTER: slice and season, then wrap in plastic wrap and nuke for 3 or 4 minutes to soften, then place into oven for french fries (10 - 15 min) or coat with flour and fry. Just my 2¢

I wash my potatoes, then stab them MULTIPLE times with a steak knife. Rub with coconut oil, add salt, place in an open ziplock bag. 8 minutes on high. Let stand for 5 minutes. Add butter and whatever else you like.

You know, sometimes it’s the simplest things. Like using the spider to strain the jar, and placing chocolate and batter in the bottle. I knew the floating egg, not the blueberry, so thanks for that one!
