K.D. is wonderful and real at every age. I love how she is always herself, never defensive. The interviewer is affable but sometimes has that air of condescension to a female and a female that is unique but she goes past all of that and just plays it off. She's so great.

Isn’t it wonderful to see someone who you don’t even need to be told how good she is, what a star she’s going to be, it’s so self evident that even Stevie Wonder would be able to see it lol!! I just think that she’s the real deal, and just got better and better as she went. So unlike the absolute trash that everyone (and by that I mean everyone except me lol, as I don’t buy into any of it) is force fed now. No souls…could almost be animatronics/ AI’s, you don’t even know if it’s a guy or girl singing, which makes her all the more rare and special. Sorry lol, I only meant to say a brief reply but I’ve given more than I intended…sorry for probably boring you to tears!! X

This is a wonderful interview. k. d. looks young, but she projects an inner confidence when she answers his questions that seems to belie her age. I wish there were a home video of her singing when she won that contest at age 5. Wouldn’t that be fun to see and hear! That experience is what launched her career, I think! 😊

What an incredibly strange event that was!! KD Lang has the pure technical qualities, along with a beautiful spirit and soul, which combined illustrates what a truly special and unique character and performer she really is!! The way she mastered her craft/ vocal abilities was completely inspiring, and the success she received was not a shred less than she deserves…in fact, I believe that she is bordering on criminally underrated as an artist and as a vocalist. When she came out at the Roy Orbison tribute and sang Crying, and literally ‘took the lid off’ letting her full set of attributes shine, well, the prolonged standing ovation she received was testament to just what she really did that night!! If that older guy booked her for this show himself, then he deserves recognition for being shrewd enough to see and hear the potential that was sitting right before him!! As I said, strange but engrossing viewing lol!! And a wonderful document of KD just before she became world renowned!! Thank you for uploading this, love Marilyn 🌟

Fantastic… I am s very proud to have seen her in Toronto at the Forum, way back in the late 80’s. Her rendition of “Skip a Rope” was performed, around the rotating stage and she literally skipped using the mic cord. Never saw it again.

I remember watching this interview with my mom. Jack was on like at 9:30 AM. Jack loved kd. You knew if kd was in town (Vancouver, BC) because Jack had her on his show.

I can't imagine how horrible it was for K.D. to be forced to wear skirts/dresses/low heels/etc. NO matter how many low brow insults the interviewer throws at her, she is calm, sweet, and so darn cute. She's not about to give them the satisfaction of showing a hint of anger. I honestly think she looks at their side, as well. She tries to understand and respect their views to a point. However, her intelligence shines. The way she comes back with her sweet demeanor....which makes the interviewer look like an idiot. Sorry folks, I'm one who speaks her mind. Being the Aries that I am of course I get myself in trouble every now and then. Then there are those who love the way I am. I wished I had the patience and kindness that K.D. has. God Bless her! I totally LOVE her!!

What year was this? KD..... so free, natural, cool, talented...etc. I'm so proud that she is a fellow Albertan. My first glimpse of her was Closing Ceremonies of 1988 Winter Olympics and I was definitely 'struck'. It doesn't seem possible that we've both lived this long and never became friends... a girl can fantasize, right?
