Do not think the princesses family did her any favor not learning activities of daily living.

I don't understand royalty is marrying commoner? Who doesn't have servants to handle her lifestyle ? As it's arranged it, it sounds strange. Y parents didn't choose someone who was at their level? N the venue double booked? Certainty the vendor didn't care the publicity

It is good that in an arranged marriage there is an expectation of responsibility on both parties. They know what is coming and try to prepare for and live up to it. Western cultures value picking your own spouse, but parties seem clueless as to the responsibilities and expectations of marriage past the ceremony. It is common for them to go into it unprepared and clueless, therefore they bring nothing to contribute and the marriage collapses. Interesting to start a wedding before all parties arrive at the church. All those waiting just stand/sit in their places.

Sitting on the floor is not a sign of respect, in fact its just disrespectful to the person sitting on the floor

In Tongan culture it actually is a sign of respect, normally when you have guest or elders the Children are expected to move from the couch and sit on the floor to let the elder or guest sit in their spot(not trying to be mean just explaining)

That depends on how you look at the floor. In your eyes, the floor is seen as a lowly space. In Pacific cultures, the floor is just a neutral space. It’s a space where everyone can sit. Theres nothing lowly tied to sitting on the floor. So that means seats and chairs are reserved for higher status. For Islanders, sitting on the floor doesn’t mean anything. It’s a neutral space. Sitting on a chair means you’re honorable. It’s a meaningful space. For westerners, seating on a chair doesn’t mean anything. To you, it’s neutral. But sitting on the floor means you’re equivalent to a pet/animal. To you, it’s negative. It’s just a cultural difference on how we view sitting on the floor.

No yea I wasn’t trying to say anything about status, I was just saying that in Tongan culture it’s natural to give your seat to a guest or elder that comes over and sit on the floor

Virginia's family cannot be of that "high" status since they're the ones who got the boot when the bridal luncheon was double booked by the venue...
