Your piping work is lovely, right on the money! KZbin recommended your cupcakes with succulents video but as soon as I saw the name of your channel I decided to check out the rest of your videos. I really almost fell off my chair when I saw the way you labeled this video... “Vintage”! Seriously I must be ancient! (I’m only 59 years old.) I’ve been a professional pastry chef for nearly 40 years. Eventually I specialized in high end wedding cakes. Believe me they were large and hideous back in the 1980s! Champagne Fountains nestled in between lattice pillars! Cake decorating has come an extremely long way. Thank goodness fondant (semi-edible Play-Doh as I use to called it) is finally on its way out! I’m thrilled to have found your wonderful Channel and I am looking forward to watching the rest of them.

Thanks Jane. Glad to hear that KZbin is recommending my videos :-) RE:the name of the video. Keyword searches have something to do with that title :-) But Yeah we (I am 60) are a little bit vintage xo. I know about the 80's cakes too. That's when I began baking and decorating. I had a few orders for the fountains and lattice, stairways with the wedding party plastic dolls. LOL etc Most of them had pillars too. Ditto on the edible play doh .Although I think some of the fondant cakes are gorgeous, I prefer working with buttercream. So happy you joined me here. Do you still make cake and pastries? Where are you from? Stay safe and I hope to chat again.

Wedding Cakes For You reminds me of my wedding cake 1991. It was stil like that. My aunt worked at some bakery in San Francisco and was her gift.

@@taniacarta7198 So cool. Do you remember the name of the bakery? I worked at La Foret which was located at the Stanford Shopping Center Mall in Palo Alto and then they moved me to their second bakery in a smaller mall near Redwood City. Can't remember the name of the mall or the city. It was a sweet little pastry shop.

Wedding Cakes For You I don’t know the name of the bakery. She worked there until she retired but I only passed by it once. I don’t know why I think it was right IN San Francisco. What year were you in Palo Alto?

Beautiful cakes! How do you prevent the layered icing on icing from falling off?
@DancewithLorelie8 ай бұрын
The piped buttercream sticks to the buttercream frosted cake. The only time that you could run into a problem is if you try to pipe onto a cake that is sweating. A cake will sweat or (bead up with water droplets) if you freeze it and then try to thaw it too quickly in a warm room.
@DayByeDayChristineOKArtist4 жыл бұрын

@@CakesWithLorelie I love the Victorian style as well!!!💗💗😊 I did a salted caramel cake with salted caramel between the layers with no dam around the cake layer so cakes were sliding and then I put the salted caramel drip on too hot. It was a hot mess literally LOL 😂🤣
