Not Ableton related, but I just want to say that your beginner's course has pushed me forward in DJing. As in I am so much more confident about my capabilities. I haven't even touched the intermediate course yet, because every time I rewatch the beginner's course videos, I always find something to help me tweak my DJing to be even better. I really liked your frequency blending tutorial coupled with your beat matching tutorials. Now, I rarely run into train wrecks. Well worth the money spent. Thank you so much Phil, for helping me improve by leaps and bounds in a matter of two weeks! All thanks to your courses!

This is amazing thank you Phil I’ve been producing music in ableton for a few years and lately I’ve been interested in mashups this was quite enlightening. I’d love to see some other structures for other build up/mash up mixes!

I haven't done that in years...! Used to use Cool Edit Pro, now Adobe Audition. I have some 90's stuff I think would mash pretty well together. Time to play...!

It's a good video, but you could have saved some channels with automation (volume changes) for the people who can't afford unlimited tracks.

hi, Phil ! Love your tutorial ! When i throw my mashup into the Dj software. The waveform of the mashup is strange . It is smaller than a regular song! Why and how to fix it ? Thanks!!🙏🙏🙏

Why don't use envelopes to change volume of track ?

Love your content Phil! I’ve been watching many of your videos recently.. I had a question about this tutorial.. how do you make sure the volume of this mix is consistent with the rest of your set? do you just bounce this mix out at a certain DB? Run a compression on the master track? Or do you run the bouncer out wav file thru a mastering program like ozone? Would really appreciate your feedback! Thank you!
@DJPhilHarris4 жыл бұрын
Well you make sure the drop is at full volume, the rest of the track, I go by my own ears. You can potentially put a limiter on the master to catch any peaks for the rest of the track. But I would never push the drop (that has been mastered) into the the limiter. Just keep that at 0 decibels. (Don’t put the gain up in the limiter either, just have it sit there to catch the peaks) Hope this makes sense.

Phil Harris thank you for the feedback! 🙏 makes sense!

Hi please can someone help me. I'm really struggling with knowing how to listen to one song in my earphones and the other in through the speakers using my Traktor S2 Controller. basically how do you have one track playing and listen to the other track on this particular controller..thanks!!!
@thatnickguy4 жыл бұрын
12:57 Why would you create a new track for a brief volume ducking? Would’ve been more efficient to dip the volume on the track itself.
@schalomforever4 жыл бұрын
I thought so too. You could just cut the clip and adjust the volume in the clipped part, right?
@soundofphiladelphia3114 жыл бұрын
I'm a bit confused. You said the Tujamo track was F# Minor which is 11A on the Camelot Wheel, but the graphic said F Minor and 4A, which is the other side of the wheel.
@DJPhilHarris4 жыл бұрын
Hey, yes so the Sharp is a different key completely. This would typically not work, but I felt it sounded ok so didn’t bother changing the key of the Kanye accapella. Hope this makes sense.
@soundofphiladelphia3114 жыл бұрын
@@DJPhilHarris Thanks for replying. Yes, I sometimes find that. I've done a few mashups where the keys are opposite sides, but strangely work well together.

@phil, this was a good video, right up until you promoted piracy at 03:46. Recording *ANYTHING* off KZbin is illegal. Please don't include this. Promoting websites and legitimate sources is perfectly fine but please remove this reference from your videos. Cheers.
