@Kim Smith what do you mean “their native county?” they aren’t even from the same place. white americans have lavish weddings all the time. but people don’t say they shouldn’t be enjoying the money their family has earned and instead give the money to poor communities in their “native” country. let people of color have nice things. it’s their money to spend. immigrants regularly send money back to their home country and our collectivistic values make us much more community oriented and giving than most americans. my lower middle class family sent back money monthly, meanwhile most americans completely ignore homeless people who beg on the street. i hope you are regularly contributing your money to your community while you criticize others.

the first wish should not have been wasted on fireworks. if only there was a wish to make their guests arrive on time! ethnic time is no joke lol! i honestly think the wedding should have been broken up into two days. guests will lose interest and energy in an event that long. plus, who wants to show up at 8am for a wedding? especially when the cultural norm is arriving later rather than earlier. and wedding pictures at 6am? i can’t imagine how early the bride would have to wake up to get ready.

reality shows take every potentially interesting factor and dramatize it for views. the same way they did with emphasizing the couple being spoiled and immature and all couples on this show being clueless. i’m not saying i agree with it, but it’s the way the show works. jane talked about she had experience with indian weddings and even gave the groom advice to get horse riding lessons as she knew the horses get spooked by the drums. i do agree that western society is overly critical about adult children being close to or accepting support from their parents. i’m african and i live with my mother in my twenties. it’s normal in most of the world. but the bride was very coddled and spoiled, so the show ran with that.
