You did a wonderful job explaining the details needed to clean a kitchen, the office, and tidy the entire house. It inspired me to try again to clean the grease spots off the wall around my stove using Krud Kutter and a scrubbing sponge, and behold...they began to come off. I thought it would be impossible. I may try the Krud Kutter for kitchens. Thank you, Nikki, for the encouragement.

These are the best videos! I still reference your videos you did similar to this series that followed the list from Old World Home. I have shared those videos with friends and I am doing the same with this series. One can read lists, or hear lists, but when you go and SHOW the lists in action in such a graceful manner…now THAT speaks to me. The music, the grace, the beauty…that speaks to me the loudest.

Design the menu...how beautiful and classy. That's the term I will use from now on. Thank you. On a given day, how much time would you say you take to complete your lady of the house tasks? 4hrs? 6hrs? Trying to adapt this to my life. Thank you. Love this types of videos you make.
@lisbetsoda4874 Жыл бұрын
I would guess 2 hours would actually do it most days. 1 hour for daily tasks and 1 hour for a bigger project. Maybe an extra half hour for laundry and ironing/putting away.
@TheLadyoftheHouse Жыл бұрын
I'm so glad you like that! I would say about 1 1/2 hours but it could take 2 if I have a lot more energy and want to do more than usual in each space. This time doesn't include the time I take to get myself ready for the day or completing the laundry once dry or on a day that I'm dragging.

@TheLadyoftheHouse Жыл бұрын
If my kids want breakfast I make it between starting a load of laundry and cleaning up the kitchen. What you see me washing are usually the breakfast dishes. Making myself brunch later, after my work is done. If I eat first, I feel tired quickly.

I’m trying to wrap my mind around- when a exercise routine would fit in and how to clean after getting fully dressed and presentable for the day
@TheLadyoftheHouse Жыл бұрын
I can't answer that for anybody else but I enjoy swimming 1st thing in the morning so I'm there before 6am. I leave dressed and ready for the day on those days. As far as cleaning while fully dressed, that's something I don't have a problem with but again, that's just me. Hopefully my videos show how it can be done 🌹

But really, I can’t picture you on your hands and knees cleaning the kitchen baseboards while wearing those dresses. Do you do it after cleaning the floor really good? Do you put a mat or towel or something to kneel? Do you gather your dress over your lap? 🤔 I have a sister in law who can hand wash dishes wearing long sleeves and keep herself clean, dry and well put together, so I know is possible but I struggle to be able to clean while nicely dressed. 😔

Lovely video Nikki! I’m working my way through the week and this is such a great routine! I was browsing your old videos and I was wondering if you have ever done one on proper undergarments?? @miriam8026 Жыл бұрын

Thank you, Jessica! I'm so happy you find this routine helpful. I have made a few videos on the subject but not with specifics except that I love purchasing vintage slips and nightgowns. They just don't make them like they used to. Search "vintage lace slip" on Poshmark. That's how I found many or "vintage nightgown". Thrift shops are also a place I have found some treasures.

I grew up on a farm and we hung our clothes out to dry. I did it for a few years after I got married, but no longer do it. There got to be too many bugs.
@katie77482 ай бұрын
That's the only thing I don't like about it. This year, we had ladybugs constantly laying their eggs on our laundry, which smear and stain bright yellow. Oh, and bird poo. Lots of bird poo. Many things have gotten a second wash because of all this. Oh well.

Just curious about why you don't wear an apron when cooking or doing more intense cleaning? I'd be so worried to ruin my dresses with oil splatter, sauce stain etc. Aprons can be so elegant and beautiful, especially vintage styles, I feel they are practical and pretty, and of course help to keep your dresses in great condition, so would fit really well into a lady like life? 😊

It's so insulting when people insist that people like you don't exist and that it's all an act for clicks. That no one "real" cooks and cleans and raises children with "perfect hair and makeup." No one "real" cooks and cleans and raises children "in a $200 dress." (Yes, I know you buy secondhand...not the point lol) No one "real" has a clean house. Et cetera. Et cetera. Are they just projecting their own shortcomings and insecurities? Are they jealous/envious? Are they simply miserable and disillusioned about their own lives? I'm not sure, but it bothers me hearing so many people, usually women, saying these things. Thank you, Nikki, not only for being real, but for setting such a wonderful example. (This is prompted by recently being part of a conversation on this topic where it got to a point that I had to just walk away. I'd have better luck talking to a wall...especially when the ridiculous notion of patriarchy/misogyny came up.)

What about cleaning for your children, their clothes and their rooms. It seems its mostly about you.
@TheLadyoftheHouse Жыл бұрын
My kids have been taught how to wash their own clothes and clean their rooms. This is a very important part of parenting that I don’t take lightly as I’m raising children to become self sufficient adults. I speak about this in other videos, especially the one about laundry. Caring for the home, especially when like mine, has more than myself living in it, could never be mostly about me. The work involved in taking care of this household of 6 is quite overwhelming which is why having a schedule is so helpful and keeping things to a manageable level is important. Bedroom(s) is on Monday and laundering “theirs” is on Saturday if the kids are too young to be taught or if a mother chooses to bear that workload herself. I hope this answers your question🌹
@lisbetsoda4874 Жыл бұрын
When you wear such lovely clothes around your home - even when doing chores, did I see you walk barefoot? That just seems kind of odd to me. Maybe a little slipper would be nice ...
