I know this video is 10 months old I wanted to let you know that this video in particular help me finalize my decision to get the Weebill 3S. I'm just about to get into gimbals and all I ever heard of was DJI. Looking at the price though it would've been a stretch for me. I saw the Zhiyun 3S in the past and thought maybe that. Then the Crane showed up. UGH Now what? After all my reviewing I was comfortable to get the 3S. Now, I'm not just a photographer but an actor as well. I have written a feature that includes some fight scenes. Which makes your video THE BEST in really solidifying my decision. I mean, you tested the 3 I was looking at. And you used stunt fighters to do it!!! I couldn't have asked for a more appropriate video for me to see! LOL Now, onward to see your video on just the 3S. So, thank you! NEW SUB!!!

Great discussion - My own experience has been to always go with a bit bigger gimbal/payload than your setup requires- balancing/using will be much easier (and a bit of missed balance will be easier for the stronger motors to deal with). I have th older Weebil S - it is great for an APS-C mirrorless (the smaller Crane M3S - while theoretically perfect for that setup failed miserably!)
@SamuelSotiega Жыл бұрын
Thanks for chipping in. The Weebill S is a great gimbal too. But the performance I got from the 3S was really, really good. And very stable and super easy to balance. I just wish the screen would be as fancy as the RS3 mini, but I guess this is something they can improve on in future versions. But as a gimbal, it works really smooth... But yes, for smaller compact APSC cameras with a lightweight lens it would be an overkill....
@sviraz7 ай бұрын
very informative video and great comparison between the 3 gimbals. However, i would never shoot a fight scene with gimbal, unless you are going to add extra shake effect in post. it just look way too static, doesn't have that "dramatic" feel. OFC its only my opinion.
@SamuelSotiega7 ай бұрын
In the context of the storyline for where that fight would fit in relation to the characters and their circumstances, it made sense to use a gimbal, and then the director would add shake whenever he wanted... But I do take your point, most fights you want that raw feeling you get from handheld..

Well, it all depends on ergonomics and how long the lens turns out to be. However, I was able to balance a Canon 24-70mm L series, and the barrel extends when at its widest 24mm, and it was able to balance it. It all depends on the camera size and lens length really… but as a gimbal, the 3S, once you get the settings right, it buttery smooth..

Hi Sam - again :) I know I've said this before, and it may be my ears, but the audio on this video is quite muffled, plus there is some distortion. Are you wearing the lav mike or Rode UNDER your T-shirt? Maybe that's doing it? Or maybe your Rode has a problem? Your videos have always had excellent audio, until recently. And while my ears are not what they used to be, other videos sound crystal clear, including some of your older ones. But this one is quite muffled with a high frequency drop-off, probably around the 2KHz mark upwards. Your "in studio" segments are better audio - presumably a different mike setup. Your video from about 3 months ago on the Smooth-5S is better, but since then, your location audio has been not so good. Maybe try a different mike, and wear it outside the shirt? And I'll go and get my ears tested as my part of the deal.... ;) PS: I come from a decades-long background in studio audio engineering.

Thanks for the comment. I do hide the lav mic when filming outdoors under the shirt or stuck to the collar using foamies and medical tape. Funny you say that but after your first comment a week or so ago I got some new and rather fancy and good lav mics on their way. I look forward to using them. Maybe I am pushing the volume a bit too high as some people also commented that some of my videos were “quiet”. Trying to keep a balance for everyone…. But these new and better mics should definitely help. Maybe a video or two away from using them but hopefully you’ll be able to tell the difference when I start using them.
