It's always nice to see your crops and the herbal lay field.

Knee high by the 4th of July, an American adage from years gone by and still stands today, this year in Wisconsin anyone who planted early the corn/maize was indeed taller than that but then the weather turned for the worst which made planting very late, going to be knee high approximately middle of July which is rare, haymaking here is a real challenge as well, two fine days then two days thunderstorms, some including myself have still not been able to cut our first crop yet!

The maize has caught up now and lots of crops looking pretty good, be interesting to see how it turns out and what the cob/kernel size is like at harvest. I'm glad we don't have to rely solely on making hay, we have only been able to do as much as we have because of wrapping the bales.

Cirencester massive! ;-) Did you ever go and mooch round Massey dealers yard just along the road?

The best Agricultural college! Yes I did go there and have a look round a few times, Lister Wilder I think. Chandlers now though.

Nice topper didn't teagle do a off set 1 ?
@farmercornwall8 күн бұрын
It has been a good topper, yes Teagle do make one I think, we thought 8 foot was a bit big for the tractor we use it on though.

Any reason you didn't/couldn't use the 145 ?

We generally don't use it for the jobs as its a bit big and dont need that much power. The two wheel drive tractor is much more maneuverable too.

Well with the wet winter we had and up and down spring, the crops up in East Sussex looked really good. I bet you had interesting time! With these herbal leys, How long to you get out of them before you have to plough them out?
@farmercornwall8 күн бұрын
It was really interesting to get away and see something a bit different, a very nice part of the country. These are the first herbal leys we have planted but hoping to get three years before we plough them. Think we will have to be careful we don't overgraze them in the winter with the sheep.
