Should I apply the pre-Emergent after raking? Or does matter? When will be the best month to apply in New York?
@RonHenry2 жыл бұрын
Won’t matter either way Melody. If you have the option, do all your lawn clean up first and then apply your pre-emergent. In New York, late February - early March is good. The most correct answer is before your soil temperatures consistently are over 55 degrees. It doesn’t hurt to apply it a bit early. Hope this helps. 🙏😎

Good vid Ron. Is Tenacity the closest cool season version of Coastal , in terms of combining pre and post emergents ? Tenacity though is weak and short acting on the pre-emergent side , so not really a close comparison i guess , given how well prodiamine (which is in Coastal) works. Do you know a close cool season alternative to Coastal ? And any idea when the lawn equipment video you mentioned a few times is coming out ?
@RonHenry2 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew 77. Tenacity is closer to Celsius for cool season vs. Coastal. You could apply Prodiamine for your pre-emergent and then come back with Tenacity or Triad. Can get both at golfcourselawn.store
@Andrew77MUFC2 жыл бұрын
@@RonHenry yeah seems there is no direct alternative in terms of pre and post emergent in one product for cool season lawns . Tenacity does have some pre emergent properties but it is usually short acting and much more effective on the post emergent side than the pre emergent. Mixing multiple products together can be a pain sometimes and I do use granular prodiamine. Maybe one day they will have an effective combined product for cool season lawns.

Some people do Dave but it's not ideal. Really you'd apply your pre-emergent and Tenacity separately because Tenacity really works best with MSO or a surfactant added and you don't typically mix either of those with pre-emergent.
@Dave-ld3dr2 жыл бұрын
@@RonHenry That’s true but I want to do a round of tenacity so I thought if I mix it in the prodiamine when I apply the prodiamine I can hopefully get by without the surfactant & save some time.Then wait 10 days & apply tenacity properly then in 10 days use tenacity again with surfactant for a total of 3 applications of tenacity 10 days apart.I used tenacity last year for the first time & got good results but was told you should use it 2-3 times.I applied Prodiamine in the fall so I won’t see the results till spring but want to use prodiamine again in the spring then keep using it spring & fall.What’s your thoughts?

One thing to remember guys is if your grass isn't thick. Try spending a year on aeration, overseeding, and do not bag. And then attack the weeds. A lush fulfilled lawn getting good watering without oversaturation. If your really having trouble getting your lawn thick check your soil types and see if it's to sandy to retain moisture or if it's to compacted to get good moisture to your root systems and don't be afraid to get a soil test. Also evaluate your environment do you live in a hot area with no shade. Or a cool area with lots of shade and wind. All these things can effect how thick your specific grass type can grow and anywhere your grass doesn't grow expect weeds to take its place
