If you have been following along on this channel we have discussed some of the issues getting trimmer line to feed correctly out of the Stihl FS 40C Weed Eater. The unit works perfectly fine with the exception of the trimmer line not feeding when the head is bumped. I have tried different types of line and sizes and it all hasn't worked like you would expect.
Having had experience with the Echo Speed Feed 400 on my SRM-2620 Trimmer, I wanted to see if I could adapt the Echo Speed Feed Universal on onto the curved shaft trimmer. When you open up the package, it says it will fit the FS 40. Mine is the FS 40C. I thought that the "c" part was only having to do with the Stihl Easy Pull setup on it. Like I said, the Stihl operates well with the exception of the bump feed. Even if it did work, the loading of line is much more difficult than that of the Echo Speed Feed Design.
So rather than go to Stihl have buy something there, I purchased the Universal Echo Speed Feed and COULD NOT figure out how to make it work on the Stihl Trimmer. I went to the Echo Dealer knowing I would buy the 2320T and brought along the bump head and the Stihl and they couldn't figure it out either. If you know, please let me know as it would be greatly appreciated.

Speed Feed 400 heads are great! Adding a Speed Feed 400 head a few years ago was a big improvement on my 1994 McCulloch Pro Mac III Super grass/brush trimmer (32 cc). I do like the brush blade option, & I use the shoulder strap with my trimmer all the time. I want to buy an Echo some day, but my old trimmer needs to die first! 29 years old & still going strong. I am a firm believer in non-ethanol 40:1 gas/oil mix & keep the gear head greased.

I been running the pas 2620 with the pro torque trimmer head. I switched from speed feed to the echomatic pro it's pretty nice no easy load though I switch between the pro torque head and regular pas trimmer though and that has a speed feed on it. Echo makes an Awesome power head though I've used the pas for just about everything mostly for pole saw and hedge trimmer but it makes an awesome string trimmer to would never switch back to anything 4mix.

Those new to Speed Feed 400 heads - the bottom cap will wear out, but you can buy replacement trimmer caps. You don't have to replace the entire unit. I found some cheap aftermarket ones & keep a spare or two on hand. You can buy OEM ones, too. Some have added a bolt & washer to their cap to extend its life. You can find You Clips on that, too.

Haven't seen a 2320 in person yet. Kinda seems like a pro grade 225! Tho echo won't claim anything less than pro grade for any gas models😄

Does it have a grease fitting on the head ?

If you aren’t going for huge brush even bigger than this video, get the 2320T and adjust the carb. It’s near the same performance. Lot less bulky and heavy.

When I first got my Echo PAS 2620, I tried to use it with the speed feed and 095 line on a field of weeds that were the same type as you were running into. These are the ones with the purple seed bundles. They had grown to be 6-7' tall and the stalks were about an inch in diameter. Within the first couple minutes it destroyed the reel in the bump head. Those suckers are stringy and tough. So, I ended up using my old Redmax BC221DL with an Oregon Flexiblade Jet fit 55-403 and 0.158" line. Maybe there would be a better head I could have used. Is there anyone else who had to deal with these type of weeds?

Must be something wrong with my echo 2320T trimmer, boggs done when trying to cut 2 blades of grass and won't run high rpm! It's brand new too

Use echo black diamond .105 string, will make your life easier.

If the weed eater string gets too long on an echo all you got to do is wind it back you don't have to hit it on a rock😅😅
