"Weed Whipping Walk Paths" - a great method of weed control for Biological Gardeners

On this day, June 23, 2013, I used my Stihl FS-90 String Trimmer to weed whip walk paths between rows of crops grown under plastic mulch.
I planted cover crop in the walking paths immediately upon finishing two rows together. This has limited weed growth in walk paths and presents a more professional and appealing appearance.The mix is an annual rye, field peas, and two low growing clovers. There may be some field turnip seed in there as well, this mix was prepared in the Fall last year but didn't get planted. This won't be a problem though, because the field turnips put down deep roots that can break up any hard pan, and bring up nutrients from below.
