THANK YOU!! for making this video. I've fixed my problem. My leafblower had huge spark, pure either in throat, 136 PSI compression. Still wouldn't start. NO IDEA WHY. Eventually after hours and hours of youtube videos down dead ends. Eventually a video said check the woodruff key. I did. THERE IS NONE! on my machine. So now what. No videos on youtube on what to do if your machine doesnt come designed with a key.? But I new timing still needed to be checked. An youre the only video that said to make sure piston is TDC with magnets connected. That worked! that fixed my 2 week old issue. thank you so much!!

put a new spark plug to get my 128ld up and running for this year and it worked great yesterday. 2 pulls to start it, perfect idle, no stalling on high revs, great. today, it won't even begin to start. absolutely mind boggled.

Remove and separate front cover and shaft from unit to expose clutch assembly. Use corresponding Alan key to remove screw in middle of couch cover in the transmission junction to the shaft cable (see the long neck on the thing that turns freely? Inside the square housing where the cable goes... There, look in there: Alan screw) Remove clutch cover to reveal cluch assembly. Remove clutch assembly by unscrewing turning the direction noted on the assembly. Remove clutch assembly noting order of parts, washer, bearings, spacer, etc. Now you are at the fly wheel that is also your timing wheel, gently taps to remove from shaft; may take 2 or 3 minutes of tapping, hard taps not recommended. When it comes off, there will be alignment slots in the flywheel that line up on the shaft. Check and clean with small brush check for indication of damage. Replace part if necessary or reassemble. That's the timing. Done.

@@equipt4sound there is only one slot where the fly wheel goes on. It’s not damaged or been changed in any way.

@@lemoncake9597 correct, one slot on the shaft, two on the flywheel that make a corresponding single slot for the shaft, at least on most these models. There may have been variations, who knows. Anyone reading along replaced lawn mower timing keys, woodruff keys? Now here's an example, those keys get stamped in the slightest and it's poor performance and failed starting. This is the same "delicate" situation. A trimmers timing can be knocked ever so slightly, may not even leave a mark any place on the flywheel. Where it is noticeable will be in the seating perhaps, the flywheel may appear ever so slightly forward on the shaft to appear still seated and timed correct. There are other points as well to check for "no starts." This year's fuel has really taken a toll on most my equipment. Utter garbage and at such price. The push to electric is on without a doubt and to mention that I've seen some impressive improvements there. Hope you get running. Don't feel defeated though if not. There are so many things that can happen, especially if the machine has had long hours on it, hair line casing cracks, carb fusion, gasket saturation...

Would have been helpful had you shown how you set the timing. I have the same issue with a weed wacker. Guess that is the problem, have checked everything else, have new plug, good spark, new carb, 75 psi compression.

How is the timing off if it was a mower the shear pin would be broken is there a pin broke on yours how did it move or someone took apart and put on wrong?

@@shawnschuster7532 I just picked up a 122lk husqvarna weedeater starts and runs but the bogs out i have had this happen on other models and it’s always something different! Fuel lines bad motor plugged gas cap but I have never came across ur issue! And on a mower it happens when someone hits a brick or a stump and it stops the blade but a weedeater that can’t happen so very crazy glad u got it! I have seen people change the coil and put on backwards it would still run

@@vdittycc yeah I about threw it away I'm like I'm getting spark and good compression and fuel only other thing after a few days I was like I wonder if the timings off sure enough it was I just got a brushless electric one now it's actually better than having to keep pulling this one and lasts way longer than the gas one it's like a 40v lithium one I think

@@shawnschuster7532 the electric ones are good 40v is so much better than 18-20v I may buy one for my sis(new house) but I love my 4 cycle Honda it’s so easy to start and never gives me problems. I’m not sure if you know about them but on eBay u can buy a knock off echospeed feed head and it makes the line load so easy to do, I put one on all my weed-eaters a they are universal try one out if u have not! About 10 bucks free shipping on eBay!

So how do you adjust the timing? I see no way. And you didn’t explain the fix? Or I missed it each time I’ve watched. Timing doesn’t change unless you took it all apart and put it back wrong. You would have had to remove the flywheel and put it in completely out 90 degrees. With a keyed drive shaft there is no way to get it wrong unless their are double jetway where it could be possible to get it upside down.

For your timing the piston needs to be all the way up top and your magnets need to be catching to where they magnetize for the timing to be on like when it sparks the piston has to be at the top so when it ignites it'll shove the piston down

I put a new spark plug on a husqvarna weed eater 128ld in i use it but it gets oil on the spark plug do you know what cant be wrong with iti put it on full choke in it runs for mintues in dies

You need to adjust your low and high idleon the carb make sure you have the correct gas to oil mixture I can make a video showing where the high and low is on your card I usually cut a slash in the spots so a screwdriver can be used

Thanks for the vid. I have one that would run half choke. It finally quit, so I replaced the carb, fuel filter, spark plug and air filter. It starts but won’t run well and ends up dying. I’m about to take it to the shop I’m so done with it.

Yeah I was going to smash that one I had into the ground lol I was pissed in the end I bought a electric one from Walmart for like 280 dollars takes batteries works way better than the gas ones and doesn't cost me in fuel anymore lithium batteries for the win

I have a Ryobi hedge trimmer that the flywheel will spin out of position and loses timing..there’s no key way…the flywheel basically supposedly stays in place just by being held on crankshaft by compression of the clutch…terrible design.

@@midnailyn my experience is before you install the pulling cord , make sure the plug is taken off and use a screw driver to feel the piston is rotated to the very top in the cylinder, then install the cord. It worked on mine . One or two pull starts .thanks a million to this Vedio to make me aware of such an issue.
