Bought one of these a little over a year ago and took it on over 25 dives since, including deep tech dives. It worked very well. My only complains are 1) having to scan the bar code 2) software support is ok but it is third party. It does an excellent job at color correction but does not support GPS so you cannot just tag a dive by taking a picture on the board before or after diving 3) Does not support the ultra zoom or ultra wide lens on iphone 11.

Thanks buddy for your comment and for sharing your experience with this housing. 🙏🏻 Glad to hear that it works just fine even at deeper depths. 👍🏻 And regarding your complaints, no housing is perfect, but as long as it does most of what it's supposed to do well, I'm happy. 😉

@@MatthiasLebohi, since the video is 3 years old, are there any changes regarding the 0.5x and optical 2x not supported on that specific housing ? Maybe it has been updated since ? Thanks for sharing your experience

Thanks Matthias great video I’ve bought cone one point you didn’t mention is that it is a great way of entering into uw photography without breaking the bank and seeing if it’s for you before you invest a ton of cash

You're absolutely right Mark. It most definitely is a good way to do that. Thanks for mentioning it. 🙏🏻👍🏻

I have about 150 dives on this housing. It has only flooded once, but that destroyed my smartphone. The housing, however, survived the flood just fine. Two major annoyances to note: scanning the QR code every time in order to connect seems very silly, and the contacts between the body and the lid are in THE worst position possible. If any water gets on the contacts, such as when opening the housing, the springs on the contact pins will rust and eventually stop contacting the lid. This can result in one or more buttons no longer working. If the contacts had been placed at the hinge end, this would not have been an issue.

Do you know why it flooded? Is it because the O-Ring needed to be replaced? Was it a human error? Can you please give more feedback. I want to buy it but not at the cost of toasting my cellphone.

I would not still use my main phone underwater, specially when more and more security systems rely on two-factor authentication, like banks and so on. But it would be nice to use with me secondary phone, or even with only data connection. Even though mobile phones have same issues as compact cameras and I would like it to have standard 67mm thread for close up lens and so on to make it more versatile. The main benefit is stil the speed of sharing and automatic backup with the phone. I used to use one housing for mobile phone and still have it. Just the phone has gone obsolite and thus don't use it anymore. My main worry with that housing would be that as the cameras in mobile phones get more and more complex, after year or two the current phone would be obsolite and you would need to select the new phone based on this housing and when there starts to be more and more foldable phones, slide phones, bigger phones, new operating systems, new camera technologies. How long you could be able to use this housing?
@MatthiasLebo4 жыл бұрын
Hey Juhani, thanks for your comments and your thought. 🙏🏻 You've got some valid points there. How long such a housing will be usable with new phones coming out in the future is really hard to say. But I think you should be safe for the next generation or two. And that's still much better then the big DSLR or mirrorless housings, that can only be used with one specific camera. As soon as you change the camera, you have to change the housing too. So I think it's a rather small risk worth taking. 😉

Nice Video - does this come with a Red Filter
@MatthiasLebo4 жыл бұрын
Nope, it does not. But I'm sure you can add a red filter by using an adapter.

Is this housing the same as the kraken housing? And can you use the kraken app with the weefine housing?
@MatthiasLebo2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the housing is exactly the same. It’s the same company, just called different in different parts of the world. I assume the app should work therefor as well.

I was on my way to more diving with this housing when covid started. I was about to buy a tray and a light for it. Which combination would you suggest? I was looking at a TH21 tray from scubalamp and an orcatorch D910V. Do you think these would be a descent match?
@MatthiasLebo4 жыл бұрын
I think that the TG21 and in combination with the D910V is a good choice. The tray is very versatile and and still quite compact, the D910V is powerful enough and very easy and intuitive to use. I would recommend this setup as a addition to the WEEfine Smart Housing Pro. 👍🏻

@@MatthiasLebo I am thinking about trying to use a red filter with it. There is. 58mm lens adapter you can use with this case. In your experience, ahould I be able to just get a 58mm red filter and attach it directly in front using the lens adapter? Do you know of a good 58mm red filter? I am not sure how red it ahould be (gopro kits come with a few). Is adding a red filter more trouble than necesarry if one can color correct later with somwthing like dive+?
@MatthiasLebo3 жыл бұрын
@@npirzkal A red filter is never a bad idea. The different densities (colors) of red correspond to the depth you're using it at. The deeper down you go, the denser (more red) the filter should be to add enough red color to the image. This one seems like a good choice to me: www.backscatter.com/Magic-Filter-Circular-Auto-Magic-Filter-58mm-Threa?affiliate=U2FsdGVkX18HAQIDBAUCCd1IBNCO%2Ftiavxv91vkEZgA%3D

@@MatthiasLebo Thanks Matthias. I assume that any red filter will help if I simply rely on the camera auto white balance, right? If I get a light, I should get a blue filter, right? Does the blue filter have to somehow match the red filter in terms of attenuations etc?
