SJ is a life saver! I appreciate you for taking the time, while going thru the pain, to make these videos. You helped so many people (as i read in the comments), and myself. I am in my 12 month recovery and i feel fine, just some stiffness, due to me going back to normal life around month 4, and i stopped stretching as much. thanks you so much, and for the newbies that just tore, FOLLOW HIS INSTRUCTIONS, Stay a couple weeks ahead (still follow week by week) of SJ videos, and YOU WILL BE FINE!

Hi SJ, I had 2.5 mm full rupture on right leg at start of February. Came out of boot fully at week 7. Been walking every day due to pandemic and covered 104km on foot last week. First single heel lift at the weekend at week 11.5. I was rest one hand against the wall though. Also, cycling has really helps range of motion, both indoors and outdoors. Tendon in the injury area is very thick and quite tight, but eases with gentle stretching. Can’t get physio at all at the moment as no hospital appointments, even private. Seems that I’ve done ok with self-rehab during Covid outbreak! Cheers, excellent videos!!

Hey SJ, just wanted to say thank you for these videos. We think very similarly(thorough and cautious) and it's been extremely helpful to have your perspective. I'm now 4 weeks post-operative and partial weight bearing with a boot and crutches and I take my first wedge of three out this Wednesday.

FacelessMan I’m glad you enjoy the videos. Good luck with the process and trust me, life improves a lot when you are fully weight bearing! Looks like you are close to that stage.

Likewise! You seem to be healing excellently. Fortunately I can work remotely so this injury has surprisingly disrupted very little so far (except for athletics), I ruptured at track practice =/

Sj When I realized I had ruptured my Achilles on the basketball court, the two things that flashed in my mind was “how do I chase my 2 year old” and “I can’t go on my golf trip” I’m not 6 weeks post Op and I’m still going to go on this trip and chip/putt when I can! Was playing the best golf of my life (3.2 handi) but at least most of this healing was through winter :) Thanks for all you do for the Achilles community.

Hi SJ! The stretching has helped a lot with regards to the knee to wall stretch ! I am now at 4-3 cm away from the wall after being about 9 cm 10 days ago which has really helped my walking. I am now at 12 weeks and doing calf raises and trying to go slow on the way down as well to really feel it in the calf, which is really weak, but damn it feels good to be doing these excercises knowing I am starting to build the calf muscle again!. Thanks for your updates once again they have been really helpful when I and many others have been going through this injury.

thank you so much, I feel so much better for watching this as I was beginning to feel I am not progressing well but this has made me feel more positive. I appreciate it, thanks and yes, people comment for sure - someone said to me, haven't you been given a crutch, you need it?! I'm week 11 non-op.

Hey SJ, awesome videos! I've kinda discovered your videos late I injured my Achilles approx. 7.5 weeks ago just before Christmas. I was under the assumption that all mobility exercises were to begin at the 8-week mark, but after watching your vids I've begun doing some ROM exercises. one quick question, you state that there's significant scar tissue around the rupture, I'm experiencing the same thing did you have any tips on how to reduce this? and do you still have the scar tissue after recovering fully?

Hi thanks for the videos they have helped enormously. I’m at week 13 and gradually getting some range of movement back. My foot gets very cold and the circulation isn’t particularly good, I spoke to my consultant who says it will improve with time just wondered if anyone else has had this problem. Thanks.

Hey SJ - these have been a life saver. Tracking closely to your progression since the beginning (also went non op on a full rupture) but struggling with double standing calf raises at week 11. Had a couple sharp cramps in the upper calf muscle a couple times and that make me nervous to keep going. Cramp went away within seconds but now nervous. Any advice? Did you push through car cramps? No real issue with the tendon.

Hey SJ , Thank you for your videos ,really helped me on my recovery process. I was off work for last two and half month ,back on work since last week. I live in UK , I came out the boot in my 11 th week hopefully end of next week I will be on the wheel. I was told I would be ready to drive ,when I can do the emergency stop. I think I am ready for that now but going to wait 10 more days till I go back on Driving. Driving won't lead re-rapture my Achilles right ? there is no risk right . My car is manual . what do you think ? Thank you

NHS has a protocol that they follow for this injury .Anyone in uk would come off the boot in 11 or 12 week.

In the Netherlands, in a lot of hopsitals they get an achillotrain after 3 weeks! only 3 weeks cast and then an achillotrain with conservative treatment! If not, off the boot or cast after 6 weeks. In Belgium mostly 8 weeks cast or boot. Lot of differences all around the world in conservative treatment.11 or 12 weeks boot seems really long.

Like your videos, I ruptured my tendon in mid March, no 12 weeks gone and comforting to follow that we are in the same pace, also limping. My physiotherapist recommends walking sticks and I do 6km 3-4 times a week. Also training with a TNS, which should increase the muscles. I've tried twice 18 holes of golf, riding with a cart, worked very well.
