You call fans out all the time for their takes by asking “who would you rank ahead of X team?” Well I think it’s time for you to take some of your own medicine and give us your playoff rankings, with some commentary on how merit, power rating, on field performance, record, etc. factored into the rankings. I mean if we go by the logic of his own show, why would he talk about the 12 teams that he thinks should be in the playoff right now? There's a lot of football that's left to be played. A lot is going to look different by the time the 12 teams need to actually be chosen. He drives home every show that November is the longest month, there's no reason for him to rank teams to put in right now when the picture might going to look completely different in a week, let alone in a month.

I don't understand the comment that the committee is saying you need to forget about the NIU loss. ND being ranked 8 instead of 2 is showing you that that loss did matter. But the committee is also saying that ND has shown enough since then to warrant inclusion provided they don't lose again. I think that that is all quite reasonable

Vegas has underrated BYU nearly every week this season. They seem to be an outlier when it comes to Vegas odds. Don't get me wrong, this game against Kansas makes me nervous. However, I honestly believe BYU's close wins have only served to prove that they are mentally tough and can win in high pressure situations when the odds are stacked firmly against them. I'm not sure how many other teams would have won those games in that position.

The SOS argument is wrong. The hypothetical is taken to the extreme, but in the case of two 12-0 teams, the team with the harder SOS is the team who played the most difficult teams to get to 12-0. This is the only time when SOR can be correctly applied. The best metric would be to effectively give every team, everyone else's schedule to determine who has the most difficult SOS. This will account for all scheduling dynamics as well. Saying that Alabama has had the most difficult schedule, although not individually harder than UGA, to get to the playoff is absolutely fair when taking into account Bama played JP #6 UGA, at Vandy, #11 SCar, at #9 Tennessee and Mizzou in a 5 week stretch. SOS also needs to be calibrated to what you are arguing for. If it is playoff caliber, it should not matter if you played the 60th best team or the 130th best team, you should beat them both handily. Which is why ranked wins actually matters in regards to the playoff.

if you don’t reward playing a tough schedule, then you’re just incentivizing the big 10 and ACC to make sure the 3-4 good teams in the conference don’t all play each other in the same season. sets a terrible precedent for the sport. it would also impact media revenue in the long run. the playoff can boost regular season viewership but big game matchups do most of the work on cpms, so they’ll wind up killing the value they’re hoping to drive under the new model

I think we both agree 7-2 Missouri is in decent shape they’re not a very good team just like the teams in some of the teams in the ACC and Big 12. The bias is there bc the result have brought us to think the way we all think. Team also change as the season goes along so context of that matters. People are crazy all around bc there’s 6 very good teams who could probably play with anyone at some point in the SEC and 10-12 competitive teams. It’s easily the deepest conference now. People who can’t see this are actually being bias and don’t like it. Big 10 doesn’t even come close to that and the other conferences are even worse.
