Sending you a tremendous hug on that decision man. I did the same almost a year ago, went through the same thought process where I knew limiting or cutting down on the in-take wasn't gonna work, so I just cut it out. And I'm so happy to hear you say the same, you should feel very proud. Stay strong dude!

Thank you for sharing your sobriety with us. I stumbled upon your channel because I really like Steven King. I have recently decided to chose sobriety for myself as well and for the same reason you did. One of the best decisions I've made! And I've decided to start The Dark Tower adventure, also reading some books like Salen's Lot, Insomnia, and Hearts in Atlantis along the way. Best wishes!

I’m about three years in to my own sobriety - the hardest parts at the beginning turn into a superpower before long. I remember the first time I went to a wedding after starting my sobriety and being so anxious about it but by the end of the e night I was like “hell yeah I can just be a human being” and feeling really cool for not going for my usual crutch. Best of luck!

It enables me to channel my addictive personalityinto something more fruitful. And thats why i bought more than 100 books last year hahaha. Id like to hear about updates on that!

Hearing you talk about your struggles with alcool and your plans on sobriety makes me feel like I am not alone! I have the same kind of addictive personality(did the same with books and also with plants lol) and I was always the one friend that could never have just one drink…. I was fine not drinking but if I had one, I needed 10 😅 I had tried to limite my consumption in the past and it never worked long terme for me. Last year I dicided to quite cold turkey and althought it was hard and sometimes I still struggle (summer is especially hard for me with BBQ etc). I am now 16 months sober and It was the best decision I ever made for me and my familly . Thank you for sharing I wish you all the best in your soberiety journey! ❤

Amazing honesty dude - I'm 8 years after cutting drink out. Much like you, I have a very addictive personality, and when I got into books a few years ago, my shelves filled up incredibly fast. Cutting out the negatives has done a lot for my headspace, so I hope you find the same with your journey (Also I 1000% think I have ADHD which would explain a lot so I'm waiting for my assessment 😅) Ironically, I followed you on IG too but I was WAY too addicted to that app, so instead of trying to cut back I just ditched it all together! Glad I can still follow your content man ❤

My grandfather was an abusive alcoholic after the war and wasn't a nice man. When my dad was younger, he was also quite the drinker (never abusive). Something happened one day (not sure what) and he realized he never wanted his daughter to live through his experiences, so he quit then and there. This was before I was born and it was just my sister, so I never saw him touch a drop of alcohol. He would rarely have an alcohol free beer, but that's it. I could sometimes hear other men make fun of him but it never bothered my dad. Our lives could have been way different. I am so proud of him for making that decision and putting his family first. He was the best man I've ever known. Thank you for sharing your experiences and you should be so proud of yourself for going sober.

Good for you on sobriety! I am 51 years old and I’ve recently cut out alcohol too. I’ve experimented with this off and on for decades, and though I don’t have a drinking problem with a capital P, I’ve found that I’m just way more productive and happy the longer I go without booze. Will I quit forever? Doubtful, I love a good glass wine too much, but for now I don’t really feel the need to drink. I’d rather be reading books! Keep up the good work on these videos, I find them engaging and fun.

Awesome! I quit alcohol too, 9 months ago. It took my body 3 months of holding on then lost 25 lbs just like that. I sleep amazing now. Don’t miss the hangovers. See alcohol for what it is: alcohol is ethanol which liver turns to acetaldehyde which is “poison” that makes one feel drunk. It affects your brain which affects memory and reading. When I quit, my reading hobby exploded and I found your channel :) I also find far more tasty drinks out there when I do go out. Congrats on the success of your channel -Vancouver, BC
