Hi and welcome! A formula recipe is just the ingredients used to make up a patient's formula regimen. A lot of our patients have very specific needs in terms of calories and nutrients, so they may be on multiple formulas or concentrated/diluted formulas. The recipes that we put in for the hospital (and also ones we give our families) just detail how much (grams/scoops of powder or ml/oz of liquid) of each formula and water is used. In the hospital, the formula lab uses our recipes to mix the formula regimen for our patients. I believe this is really only done in pediatrics (not adult care) as pediatric patients are much more complex
