Kendra, I'm also a night nurse on the weekend on an observation unit. Then I work 1-2 days in SDS during the week. I agree, burnout is real. I have a friend who's trying to get me to travel with her. Honestly, I don't want to learn anything new. No new hospital, charting system, city, coworkers. Nothing. LOL. I'm good. Not retirement good. But I'm on the way. LOL.

I am you!! I am good with what I know in bedside nursing. I know when to intervene and how to care. I don’t want to learn no new charting system, no unit culture, hospital policies, nothing!!!!

I am retired nurse and I have 2 bulging discs and 2 ruptured disks in the Lumbar area. I have gone to physical therapy and did exercise and stretching. Your gym costs are cheaper than what you would pay if you had to go to a physical therapist. Take Care of beautiful self Kendra!

I worked nights for 11 years. I was fortunate to have a good supervisor. I worked 7 PM to 7 AM, seven on seven off,and was paid a 25% shift differential to work nights.. we were also paid a three dollar an hour differential to work weekends.

Hello, I have been a nurse for under 2yrs and recovering from a back injury; dics bulge muscle strain, and degenerative arthritis. I have worked I. Healthcare for 23 years. I work nights and now this is my second back Injury due to work I am thinking about what I need to adjust to save my back. I always wanted to be a nurse for so long. And had to postpone because of life and being a mother. Currently, working bedside and truly love what I do. I plan to go for my NP, and certificates in functional health. I prefer nightshift will I further my nursing education . Now with this injury I need to be more careful. I do t have many years of nursing, and I don't want to do a desk job. I truly want to use to next 4years of moving around to other departments and learning all that I can before transition to morning shift. I just truly want to be a good/experience nurse 😢

$230.00 is cheap compared to taking meds, masking the pain that could get you injured even more. Pain meds are great, but again, they mask pain, and pain is our bodies' way of saying, "Stop it!" Real strengthening and body mechanics will keep you a happy camper. You inspire me to get my flabby butt moving again. Thank you! 😊

It is also cheaper than going to a physical therapist!

Pain meds also give us gut problems. I landed in the ICU with bleeding stomach ulcers 10 years ago. Eating aspirin to mask the back pain.
@paulasage36119 ай бұрын
@remaeburney832 Yikes! People think if it's over the counter, it's safe, and that just isn't true. I hope your stomach issues didn't linger. Take care, be safe.

@@paulasage3611You are so correct! Pain is the bodies way of saying, stop. Several exams, chiropractors, physical therapy,and MRI showed that I have Spondylosis and Degenerate Joint Disease. I did get my gut healed, but it took a while. I had to change my lifestyle and diet.

Hey Kendra!! Take care of yourself. I am a registered nurse too. I want to do Pilates as well for the strengthening/core building and may consider doing it once I have a better work schedule. I have fibromyalgia (over 15 years) which I do NOT take meds for but I made diet changes and I walk/run and do other forms of exercise. Helps so much!! Movement is medicine but these docs just want to give pills/shots and I refuse!! I use to see an acupuncturist and really thought it was helping (maybe it did) but what really helped was leaving my last crazy nursing job and taking a 6 month sabbatical to recharge my mental and physical!! 😂 That job was causing me internal stress , adult acne, migraines, fibromyalgia flares! It wasn’t the job per se but the crazy manager, the crazy 75 y.o. Nurse practitioner and our nonchalant medical director. Whew Chile!

Hi Stacey, I’m glad that so many people can identify the triggers of their physical and mental flare ups. It’s important to know and not soul’s like you’re in tune with your health. Pilates is helping my back a lot. I plan to do more walking outdoors once it warms up. Health is wealth for sure.

Happy belated birthday to your daughter!💖I signed up for a Pilates class as well, starting in April. So true- pay now or pay later. A colleague of mine had two herniated discs at the age of 34....and she was able to not have surcharge due to her training regimen. Nightshift is horrendous, I hope this will come to and end for you soon. The exhaustion and depletion that happens when working odd hours and now being into the circadian rhythm is serious. I hope you can leave that behind you soon. Have all the rest you can catch and be well🫶🏽
