Happy anniversary and thanks for sharing this great video. Only one suggestion ( I’m old…can’t help my self sometimes!!) ….Always a very good idea to put some shoes on when docking the boat. It doesn’t take much to crush a few toes or pick up a nasty sliver! I hope the next 23 are even better for you!!!

One year when we were putting the boat away for the winter Jami stubbed her toe on the keel box inside the cabin. To her surprise the toe was completely sideways. Ouch. Definitely good advice to wear some shoes while on the boat.

Beautiful boat and boating! I spied that new trailer winch (I need a new one). Where did you purchase it and would you recommend it?

Been a while since purchased, but thinking it came from Amazon. It has worked well.

Chad, your boat is in great shape! You must work hard on that teak…. If you trailer a lot have you ever put a strap around the cockpit area?
@SailingLandlocked11 ай бұрын
Have to sand and re-apply varnish almost every year. We don’t trailer far, so don’t usually strap down. I am hoping to make a trip a little farther this summer, we definitely be applying a strap then.

Fantastic video. I have a 22' Pandora which is a fairly similar boat to your's. I notice that your's has no guard rails? Love the drone shots btw. I have a Parrot Anafi which I plan to use for similar purposes to you.

Hello Howard Bull, when we bought the boat the lifelines and stanchions had been removed. We decided to not replace them. We generally don't sail in rough weather so feel that it is safe. Our next "larger dream sailboat" will have them. You should check out the rest of our videos. I used to fly a Parrot Bebop. You would get a kick out of the footage. Thanks for the comment.

Lovely video, I have a 21ft Corribee.😁⛵️
@SailingLandlocked4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. What type of keel does your Corribee have. Our Catalina has a swing keel. It make trailering so much easier.

Whats on the TIller Handle, Looks like rope connected to the Main Sheet Car ??? how does it work
@SailingLandlocked5 жыл бұрын
Hello Charl Randall, the item you are talking about keeps the tiller straight. You can adjust the tightness level depending on how much you want the tiller to move. Kind of acts like an auto pilot once you are sailing in the direction you want. Hope this helps.
@johncartelli4 жыл бұрын
i think they call them tiller tamer.just a line that can be tightened to hold the tiller where you want it

Hello Web, We just put things back the way they were after the restoration. We have never been in another Cat 22 so couldn't tell you what is different about it.

@SuperBullyone3 жыл бұрын
@@SailingLandlocked when you pull the tiller over it tightens up the mainsail. It may well be genius. the tiller is adjusting the traveller which is adjusting the mainsail.

Hanking sails are so much better than furling. If you can't grab your boat on a trailer, you're a slave.

Hi guys, Mike Forbes here, Marina Del Rey, Ca. I am thrilled we found your channel, just great footage with your family on a very nice sailboat. We just took up sailing last year, and purchased a pristine 1982 Cape Dory 22 here in SoCal. I like your interior space, very open which is great. What is your overall weight, and the keel? Is your keel like a daggerboard since you trailer her? Our boat weighs 3200 lbs dry with a 1400 lb lead keel. We are trying to learn fast after my ASA 101 course last year just after purchasing the boat. Here ya go, our first solo sail from Marina Del Rey to Catalina Island. I picked a bad weather window...lol, lesson learned. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWaVhKhqqtqcitU

Hello Mike, Our 1983 Catalina has a total displacement of 2,490lb and carries 800lb in the swing keel. The swing keel has a steel cable which allows it to be raised and lowered quite easy. It works out well in allowing us to get into areas otherwise not accessible, not to mention trailering. We are still locked in ice. 20 degrees below zero last night. Can't wait for some warmer weather.
