Hi Frances I was also talked to in various places such as shops and tube in London. For some reason in Japan, We don't talk to people who we don't know each other. I wonder if it's embarrassing. I study English regularly at italki now. After all, speaking English is exciting for me. I'm also thinking of taking the TOEIC again. Good luck for learning Japanese.😀
Hi Frances, oh boy, you have a lot on your plate! Hope your grandparents recover soon. Tell your Grandma she looks great in her new wig and wear it as often as she wants. I'm glad you're taking a break from things by shopping with your friends too...did you buy the hat? It was really cute!

Hi Frances, Taking care of your sick grandparents is really inspiring! You're doing a great job! Getting a driver's license in Japan is really tough! Good luck! Hope you pass the text test first. I also lived in the U.S. for five years and passed both the text and driving tests on my first try!
You are kind. Grandma and grandpa are happy just to have their granddaughter by their side. You will take the driving test in English, right? There are many confusing expressions, Read the text carefully. The practical driving test is all about how well you check for safety. For example, you should make a big left and right shake your head when you are checking left and right to let the examiner know that you are checking right and left. Good luck. If you do it with a normal mind, you will be fine.
I can really emphasize with your difficulty of written exam for the Japanese drivers’ license. Because, as for me, I’ve been struggling for written exam of my Canadian CPL;Commercial Pilot license. 第一言語ではない言葉でテストを受けるのはとても大変ですよね。でもどうぞ頑張ってくださいね。
I understand that talking to strangers is part of American culture, but is catcalling considered acceptable?

Frances, One thing to remember! Japanese people usually don't smile when they take a license photo like in America. You can smile slightly if you want, but not a big smile.
