Great podcast. At the end of the day, we are stronger together. As a white South African myself, I respect the fact that Dricus calls himself an African. And why not? We have been living here for more than 400 years. Growing up post-apartheid, I also identify as a South African/ African. I'm not a European. I haven't even been overseas. I eat pap, braaivleis, and experience loadshedding. Everything is not perfect in this country, but I love our country, the different cultures and our beautiful people. Yes, the history is the history, and it's not great, but it's time for us to move on and unite as one. We can't change the past. But we can have a solid future. Let's be proud of the fact that Dricus puts us on the map, and that he identifies as a African. He's proudly a South African. Izzy on the other hand identifies as a New Zealander, Chinese and African. Besides, we have a riverly with Nigeria. Whether it's in soccer or now in the UFC. Let's back our boytjie. Mzansi stand-up!

why are we claiming izzy as a african champion, not a single individual in africa had a hand in producing the champion izzy, new zealand produced izzy. africa has its own warriors that are aiming for gold. i think its disrespectful towards us as africans to claim something that we didnt mold, but we have dricus who is a white man that is proud to call south africa his home, who is surrounded by south africans to mold him in to a african champion. izzy didnt carry the nigerian flag in kickboxing. izzy didnt carry the nigerian flag at the start of his ufc career. he only did it after the belt to get fans...dricus carried the south african flag to ksw and in ufc and no other flag. we have someone special who is proud to call himself african and represent us on these big stages. we made dricus the next ufc champion....new zealand made izzy the ufc champion. i will never except izzy and an african champion because we had no hand in his career but dricus we did.

This is why I respect what Dricus said even if he didn't say it well. Dricus is getting a title shot with extremely limited facilities, training partners, coaches, and rehab compared to fighters from places like New Zealand/Australia, America, and the UK. He shows everyone that you really can make it in the ufc fighting out of Africa and South Africa.

What are you talking about saying Whittekar is done? He's still phenomenal it's just that Dricus had a meticulous game plan to deal with Bobby's tendencies. That was outstanding preparation by DDP and his coaches.

For 1, to beat Bobby, Dricus was getting his feet close together and guarding his head (Bobby head hunts). Feet together means open for a takedown and high guard means you can deliver some hard shots to the body to make him drop his hands.
