Mexico is as safe as anywhere, if you mind your business and don’t act stupid. If you get drunk and start acting like an a$$ you will likely find trouble. This is no different than anywhere. Respect everyone like you expect to be respected. Mexico is beautiful, the local people are amazing, and your dollar goes a lot further. Don’t be fooled by America media, be cool and you’ll be fine.

Hi! 2 questions - was the lobster $20? Do you think its safe for Americans to drive in TJ?
@LifeOfReillyTV3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tatiana, it was $23 for the lobster, beer AND margarita!!!! Bargain, huh?!! It's hard for me to say about whether you should drive down to TJ as we did the easy version. My feelings are: I reckon it would probably be absolutely fine and everyone's over-thinking things all the time. However, if you have your own car with CA plates, people will know you'll likely be a tourist, and make sure your insurances covers a trip to Mexico. Realistically, no-one probably cares that you're from the States. Lots of people live/commute to/from the States everyday so you wouldn't be the only people with CA plates. It's totally up to you. We came from the UK and had a rental car, which didn't let us drive. If we were alloeed to drive, we probably would have done. Or, you could Uber everywhere and it would be one less thing to worry about? Let us know how you get on and what you choose to do!!

@@LifeOfReillyTV is there an app to get an uber or are there some at airport? First time flying! We always drive 😨 but this time it’s a lil different. Covid hit home and I’m going to see my cousin that his mom passed away in December :( and he is not in a good plce place now
@LifeOfReillyTV3 жыл бұрын
You normally need the Uber app to get an Uber. Do that, and you're guaranteed a car without a long wait. If you're looking to save money, you can get a bus and the trolley down to the border which would only cost $6, I think. It does take 1h 30 to do the same journey though. I hope your cousin gets better soon.

I'm from England so I needed to take a passport and my wife lives in the UK so we took hers to be safe. I THINK a Driving License is enough for USA citizens but I hope that someone might see this question and confirm for both of us!
@jwm62623 жыл бұрын
as a us citizen you can't be denied entry, if the cbp officer is a jerk they'll send you to secondary. Just extra waiting to cross. I've gone with just my CA DL and once without anything. I've even lived in Tijuana.
@LifeOfReillyTV3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the update JM. It's amazing you can get in without any ID/paperwork at all. I guess you can show some evidence on phones these days. I'll tell people that ID is officially needed, is that right?
@ProGamerKid20002 жыл бұрын
You can cross with no problems with an ENHANCED DRIVERS LICENSE. If you have a regular driver's license, they'll most likely send you to secondary to further verify if you are a citizen

@LifeOfReillyTV3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sam, love the quickfire questions, so here are some quickfire answers!! Walking USA to Tijuana was fast, but you have to wait in a line to be seen by Border Control. This line took around 20 mins. We walked across the border, as we only had a rental car, plus we had heard bad things about insurance not being valid etc. We liked the idea of Uber as we knew what the price would be beforehand. We had bags, which went through airport style scanners. Not invasive. No Covid precautions back in 2019, as it wasn't a thing that summer. Hope this helps!

Thank you sharing, can you let me know where after you crossed the boarder did you catch the second uber? Is the a location name I can look up?

There have been lots of problems with people accidentally crossing the border. In fact, a TV station out of San Diego did coverage on how easy it is to miss the emergency turn-off before crossing into Mexico. Sorry about your family accidentally crossing the border on their way to pick you both up. Did they get back okay? You should do a video of their experiences. I wonder, especially if you accidentally cross the border and you are not a US citizen without your passport. That would be a bummer.
@LifeOfReillyTV4 жыл бұрын
It's must be so easy to do, if they're making TV reports about it! Our family got back fine after four hours of waiting in the line!! One of them had a passport with them, randomly, while the other got through with just his license. I think the video of their experience would be a lot of swearing!! Ha ha ha. As much as I'd love to test out the "British person going through the border without a passport," I don't think I'd like to test it out quite yet!!

Visit Mexico and open your eyes! I don't say that is nothing wrong in the country, but where is different? Thanks for visiting Mexico, you are always welcome!

Wise words, Rodolfo. We love travelling to see new cultures and meet new people - difference should be celebrated. Some of the comments on this video show how many Mexican kids (probably brought up in USA) are afraid to go back and visit relatives these days. Attitudes and biases need to be challenged. I hope a few more people visit Mexico after watching our video, and realise this.
