Continue with book 2 ofc because you can and you're clearly enjoying it! 🙈 Unhaul Hanya Yanagihara cus the second book 3-4 different stories (not sure if they're connected to each other or not) and most people I've seen didn't enjoy it much. (Haven't read it myself so take what I say with a pinch of salt)

I'd say: ditch "The name of the Rose", it's not worth it, if you want you can watch the movie, which I also don't recommend lol and I would recommend at least trying to read Kundera. He's one of my fav authors "The unbearable lightness of being" is not my fav, but it's still pretty good. For Kundera I'd actually recommend "Ignorance" - it's my absolute fav by him. Both of the Kundera books i mentioned deal with important issues of the 80s communist Czechoslovakia with some existential topics weaved in. His writing is very melancholic and just really beautiful - but it's my opinion, of course! He's definitely not for everyone, but it's worth trying.

Did you just call Melmoth the Mothman ahaha Also I couldn't stand The Unbearable Lightness of Being; Name of the Rose I've heard is really good though so I would at least read the synopsis bc it's a mystery! The book of accidents ive heard being compared to imaginary friend!

I don’t actually think Our Last Echoes is a series. It was the first book by her I read and it didn’t seem at all like it was part of a series. Completely stands on its own. I think that her books are all in the same universe but not actually one story.

I've heard the name of the rose, and Umberto eco in general is kind of like a dense and literary book comparable to what Dan Brown puts out.

I loved How High We Go in the Dark. It mirrors the covid pandemic with people becoming lonely, being frightened about infetion, etc. But then it presents scifi solutions for it. I'd probably wait until you are in more of a literary fiction mood for it and recommend the full cast audiobook. Read until the chapter with the pig, if it didn't convince you by then it won't

Book Club's Guide is also an ideal summer read. You can tell Hendrix is a southerner because sooo much of his writing is set in a swelter. I read Telegraph Club this summer and enjoyed it. Absolutely bawled at one point though.

How High We Go in the Dark: it’s pitched as a novel because some of the stories are related. If you don’t like the first couple chapters, you won’t like the rest of the book because it gets worse. Margaret Atwood: I’ve disliked everything I’ve read by her so I’d say just get rid of it. Devourers: Confirm you should unhaul. On “should read” books: you’ll probably never read them lol so just get rid of them

I rarely read YA these days, but House of Hollow was worth it! Loved how creepy it was, and it gave me some urban fantasy vibes mixed with mystery/horror.
