I thought Stephen King spoke from the female view excellently in "Gerald's Game."

Thanks for subscribing! I have a lot to say about King and the way he represents women. I find it endlessly frustrating.

Oh, thanks for the recommendation! I haven't read that one, so I'll give that a try on my next long flight (that's when I love to read King).

I kind of can't believe that I've never read Cullen's "Born in the USA" before -- and I've officially just bought it in prep for the autobiography. PS CAN YOU BELIEVE IT'S COMING OUT SO SOON?! CAN WE FANGIRL FOR A FEW MOMENTS?! I am planning a close reading video of "Backstreets" for the near future... which I fear I may never get to since I'll just be in a loop of reading his book. It may be the last book I ever read.

I think you would really like it! Some parts feel really basic and surface-level, but most of it is really insightful. I love that we can fangirl about Springsteen. It makes me so so happy. I hope you get to get your book signed!!!!! And YES to the Backstreets reading.

Such a great list of books, Whitney! The Springsteen book sounds fascinating! I am so excited for his autobiography too! I also preordered it, but I don't think my copy will arrive until early October, but I know I will read it so fast! I'm actually a pretty new Springsteen fan. My friend got me into "The River" and "Nebraska" and earlier this year we went to St. Louis to see him play a show for The River Tour and he played "The River" in its entirety. It was seriously spiritual and so beautiful!

Did you get the Springsteen book??? Have you read it???????? I LOVED it. It was far more lyrical and beautiful than I even thought it would be. I cried five times (not exaggerating).

Can you recommend some Graham Greene novels? I know I have read one or two, but I don't recall the names. I'd love to know what you'd recommend.

I really love The Power and the Glory, but that's one of his quieter novels. I also love The Human Factor and The Quiet American.
