Lovely makes Cara ❤ I just love Maison Fauve patterns they are excellent. I have just finished the cliff coat, it turned out fabulous. But the dreaded button holes..I nearly have a nervous breakdown trying to do them. I would love it if you could give me a few tips on the sewing button holes on your Christmas vlog ❤

Ooo thank you, sadly I’m a fellow button dreader! My tip would be to take your time, go in fresh not tired. The cliff coat is fabulous ❤️

Hi Cara! What absolutely fabulous makes. I am inspired by your colour palette. Unfortunately I have a large stash of fabric that is anything but monochrome! I have purchased the Ressac pattern and had it sent to my niece who lives in London so she can bring it with her when she comes to South Africa for Christmas. Hope it gets there in time. You mention something about some adjustments that are needed if stretch ribbing is not used where specified. I am interested in these as you can’t get nice ribbing, let alone matching, here. At least I haven’t found any. Have a lovely festive season!
@sosewmad16 күн бұрын
Hi, thank you for your lovely feedback. I’ve made several of the Ressac sweaters and I haven’t had to make any adjustments when I haven’t used ribbing so I wouldn’t worry. I’m making 3 altogether at the moment😅❤️ have a lovely Christmas 🎅

Good morning my name is Janice love your blogs To fix your overlocker you put three different colours on and you can go from there to get your tension right
@sosewmadАй бұрын
Ah that’s great advice thank you

Hi Cara , what beautiful makes you have sewn recently ❤❤❤ I bought one of the Singer overlockers from Lidl many years ago as I wasn’t sure I needed one (😂😂😂) it is still going strong. If it ever breaks I will upgrade but it just keeps going.
@sosewmadАй бұрын
Thank you so much, yes I like that overlocker but can’t get the tension right and it’s smiling in terms of the stitches, but I’ll keep fiddling with it

@ the factory settings on the dials were all at 3 when I got mine and I have just kept it at that and it’s worked ok for me - worth a try ? Claire

Your Dandelion jacket is so elegant and I love your Ressac sweatshirt! You look lovely in your neutral palette capsule wardrobe. I have made a couple of Barrington tees for myself and some tees for my great nephew who was born on the 9th. They are size 6mo. so I’ll wait a while before making the matching joggers. Because vlogmas is a lot of effort, do what works best for you. A weekly video answering 5 questions and perhaps give a sewing tip, or suggestions for patterns, notions, or tools? Happy sewing, Cara.

I swear you make 10 things for every 1 I make! And they are all just so well made and beautiful. I truly enjoy vlogmas, however I don’t think you should feel pressured to do it every day, I’m sure it can be overwhelming. Live shows are so much fun, was it what you expected? Since I work if film, corporate, commercial, theater/opera I find people are surprised at what happens behind the camera or the curtain 😉

It was brilliant fun to watch, fascinated with how hard everyone was working, just brilliant! I’m not certain why I saw as quickly as I do, I just find myself sewing and before I know it things are made 😅❤️

Great vlog Cara, so many wonderful makes and a very coordinated look over all. I love that sweatshirt with the panelled sides, it would look great colour blocked. Look forwards to hearing your vlogmas, I think you should film it in the best way that fits in with you, i'm sure your followers will be happy to listen in whichever form it comes. How would you like us to forward questions, on these comments or by DM? I would have enjoyed trying to take part myself this year but i'm away the first week so id be behind from the start😂

Love the term "enabling" garments! I just made two pairs of enabling black trousers. One in Ponte, quickly followed by stretch corduroy. I put a yoga waistband on both which makes them secret sweatpants. Used the Love Notions Duet pattern, I highly recommend it. Your monochromatic look with different textures looks so chic and cozy!

I love vlogmas, but I don't blame you at all for keeping your advent calendars to yourself. I love your tonal wardrobe, although I don't trust myself in cream, I can make a mess with anything, and taupes and beiges do not suit me. I do love your Dandeliuon jacket and will definitely head over to Maison Fauve to check out the fabrics and the new Ressac pattern; I really like the style lines on the sweatshirt. I used to have a hat very similar to yours when I was a teenager (a very long time ago), so cute. I am currently making a Constellation Hoody (Love Notions) and a Southbank Dress, love that pattern, this is my third. Next in line is the Charlie Sweater. So much to sew, so little time.

I sometimes get the same "smiling" seams on my Singer overlocker. What I found was re-threading it and ensuring the thread is pulled through the tension discs seems to fix the issue. Simple I know but I hope it helps you x
