It's not funny because they don't actually point out the truth, that black people are being slaughtered on a daily basis. Not by cops, because that is a rarity, but by black criminals. Instead of pointing that out, and how the media overtly ignores is, and SNL's blatant complicity in this, they focus on being upset that a WHITE (and rich and famous...) girl is getting attention, which if you stop and think for just a second, is just as racist as ignoring the wholesale slaughter of blacks living in inner cities... They don't CARE that black people are dying and being ignored, they care that a white person is getting attention. These people are racists. So happy that she used her platform in this way. This is what SNL used to be about. Now it far too often pushes the agenda of corporate interests. Most people don't even know that a serial killer is running around St. Louis killing black women either. Because the media isnt even covering the story. This has to change. She made several valid points here and still wound up being the funniest person on the show that night. This is what comic genius looks like. Love this skit, extremely funny (but true) I have the Leslie Jones syndrome I'm addicted to Che and Colin so much so I'm catching-up on the interviews they have done. I'm over-dosing on them. It's not healthy, but laughter is GOOD. From the UK

Thousands of native american women go missing/are murdered each year. Did you even know that? I didn't until recently. But that is a crisis...and yet media silence. Then one pretty young white girl goes missing/is murdered (and this IS a tragedy, and I am deeply saddened by it, as we all should be about it, as well as the larger plague of violence against all women) and it dominates headlines in times where there are many stories that should be dominating headlines (including the many unmentioned, or barely mentioned, missing women of color). This is what white domination of society looks like.

I don't know what point you are making. Even the newspaper says "family cool with it." Her reward is a gift card. That's the extent her family is willing to pay. If people really cared, there would be a gofundme page with millions of dollars for info. Anyone can donate. Even from half way round the world. But they truly, honestly, do not care. You can't keep blaming media bias.

For all the "She's hilarious" and "this is so funny" and "She's a really underrated cast member" I really hope you're getting it and not dismissing the take-a-way. Let that sink in.

I think you'd have to be living under a rock to not already understand the situation this skit is parodying - that's why people laugh. Ditto people putting "Black Lives Matter" related signs up - do you really think somebody who is willfully ignorant/bigoted in this day and age is going to look at a sign and it's going to completely change their worldview? Most every decent person already knows there is an unfortunate bias in missing persons cases, just from living in the world.

I think people put in the positive comments about the actors to 1) maybe get back to the SNL team that the cast members did a good job and will hopefully stick around in the cast and 2) easy likes for the commenter. Agree, though, that sometimes the content, and not the delivery, should be the focus, although I think both can be greatly appreciated in this dark comedy sketch.

@@lyndsaybrown8471 I have my doubts that anybody from the cast/production team actually reads comments on these uploads/they would inform their decisions at all, it's far more likely just people farming likes, like most other things on the Internet.

this is history, The awakening of so many to the tragedy of this energy as she raises our souls. We laugh in a bit of discomfort because we know it is true. That black people go unnoticed and there is a trauma to that. I love how we are growing in empathy with the gateway of this ANGEL to bring us this joke. To raise us from the dead and see the world around us as it is. So let this not be just a joke but a call to action. A call to show love to someone because they are black and that is a wonderful way to be. A resonance of being and eternal choice to bring us back into empathy and understanding. I cry, I laugh, I smile and I breathe this fresh air of hope that SNL and EGO bring us. A weight lifted as a thought resonates and we all know we can do more. The army of progression into a one love. :) Thank you EGO :)
