The US is a huge country, but your nearest valid evacuation point, especially if you live in a coastal state or one of our many island territories may be a foreign country. Even here in Japan, if I had to evacuate, I would go to China, Taiwan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea probably wouldn't be safe. Hell, I would even evacuate to Russia under certain circumstances. Of course I prefer to evacuate to Hawaii, nearest State, but it's too expensive, so I couldn't possibly stay there long term if I had to.
