Justin Johnson He does suffer from it. He was recently diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. Also his dad died in one of the Twin Towers on 9/11. He has had anxiety most of his young life. He is not making fun of it. Rather, he is trying to make his way through it the only way he knows how.

Pete was great! I was diagnosed with severe panic disorder after going through 7 full adrenaline response panic attacks a day. I accidently had caffeine once and i ended up in the hospital, limbs numb, with a heartrate of 220. Seeing Pete being able to joke about it was really reasuring though! 😁

As much as I love Bill Hader, the character of Stefon never really did it for me... until I learned that John Mulaney is the mind behind the cue cards for Stefon. From what I've read, Mulaney, who I also find utterly hilarious, would always make last-minute revisions to the text, with the goal of getting Bill to crack and laugh. You can really tell sometimes when Hader is seeing revised lines for the very first time; I love watching that moment as he comprehends what he's reading and starts to lose it. I heard in an interview with Bill Hader that Mulaney's writing, and Hader's subsequent struggles to contain his laughter, was actually the impetus behind Stefon's hallmark move of putting his hands together and hiding his lower face. So now I view the character of Stefon as a creation of both Bill Hader & John Mulaney. Almost like a horse in a live theater production, where two people comprise one entity on stage. Seen through that lens, I really enjoy Stefon!

There's some truth to this. People used to be embarrassed having mental health issues. Now, many wear it is a badge of honor! "Comfort support" animals being just one example! I worked on a wealthy family's house for 2 weeks. I discovered that every member of the family (parents with two kids) was on prescribed psychoactive drugs, including the dog! How did I find out? They told me!

I completely agree. As somebody who suffers from bipolar disorder, it's so hard and awkward to talk about mental health in society- it's considered taboo. Making light of it (in the right manner and circumstances) to show that "Hey, we're real people who can make jokes, open up, and have dialogues to express our struggles" is, in my mind, a truly effective approach.
