Let's be clear here. What Al Franken did was wrong. Period. The photo was totally out of line, and the skit was a form of harassment. But Franken called for a Senate investigation into his actions and immediately apologized. Franken has also sponosred and co-sponsored numerous pieces of legislation that empower women. If voters take him out of office, then so be it. That would be a completely understandable reaction. But STOP showing his photo next to Weinstein, O'Riely, Cosby and Roy Moore's photos. Franken's transgression was nothing equivalent to what those men did. Franken did not rape and/or physiclly injure women. He also did not lie about his actions and smear the integrity of his accuser. He did not systematically plan on how he'd corner dozens of women alone and assault them. He forcibly kissed and groped a single woman in front of an audience during a comedy skit. Wrong? Yes. The equivalent of Moore, Weinstein, and Cosby? No. Not by a long shot. And that difference needs to be understood.

Tom Davis passed away a few years ago from cancer. They were a great team together. Senator Franken is very forthright about his past behavior and is willing to be judged by his fellow statesman. I don't see that Franken actually touched the woman. I do NOT defend this kind of behavior at all, but to be honest, I think he just showed remarkably poor judgment and comedic insight. It just looks sophomoric and stupid, but, I do not see that his hands actually made contact. Legally, touching or physical contact are integral to the definition of sexual assault. However, in today's atmosphere and the court of public opinion, I doubt this would make an iota of difference. One of my favorite aphorisms is, "To a man with a hammer, everything is a nail." (Another favorite, "Only food runs." That's for you hunter/gatherers out there.) Bottom line, I think this is a serious business, which means we look with unflinching honesty. Above all, honesty.

They then turn to Piven and Moore. At 3:06 they turn it about Sessions, that goes on till 5:46. Tell me what you think the focus was? You can't list everything it the title so you usually list the focus of the clip. The title was misleading, simple fact. They didn't even mention that he was a founder of SNL.

When the Soviet Union was still a thing, people who were experts on media manipulation would teach us to spot such things. The techniques haven't changed. Every time someone is accused of sexual misconduct, it ends up becoming about Trump. That's fine; but, it is not an excuse for not holding people accountable or attempting to redirect.

Lets just say that both Trump and Franken had actually raped women (as far as I know neither has been charged with such a thing), would you tell the woman who was raped by Franken, that it could have been worse, that should could have been raped by Trump. That is what SNL did. If we make everything about Trump, we ignore our mistakes and faults.
