Yeah it was exactly that. They’re best friends and John was an alcoholic in the past, so he had some experience of Pete’s world of depression. And he helped him back on his feet, and came on the show for him so Pete would feel more relaxed about being there. It’s a lovely story that seems to be inspiring a lot of people. It’s amazing what a good friend can go :)

Honestly, I totally understand the joking about dark situations like suicide. My brother has bipolar and has attempted suicide several times and he and our family joke about it every now and again.
