I believe it started when Michael Che made a joke about a golfer releasing a Christmas rap song being on a compilation album called "Now That's What Jost Calls Music", and with heightened concerns over racism cropping up in the 2010s, it continued from there. EDIT: And when the joke swapping started. Can't forget about that.
