Join us for another weekend vlog, this weekend is packed with seed starting, grilling, side dishes, and spraying our fruit trees.
We also harvested our celery and set the leaves to drying, and we ended up with a gallon of diced celery for the freezer.

Today is Monday and the temp is 74 degrees here in Georgia. As I get older, the more my body can’t handle heat or cold but at least I can get outside and get a little gardening and yard work done on these nice days. I’ll be starting my tomato and pepper seeds on the 14th and planting my potatoes somewhere between the 15th and 19th. That salmon I know was delicious….I love cedar plank salmon. 🥰. Hello. I started some seeds today too. I grew purple broccoli this year and it sure was good. I picked 1 cabbage so far. I have more. I still have lots of greens I need to pick some tomorrow. I leave my celery roots with about 2" of stalk base in the pots year round. I planted once and have been harvesting for 4 years off them now.

I haven't started my seeds yet. Things have been a bit hectic. I'll have to try drying the celery leaves rather than composting. Trees up this way will stay dormant into March. Buds should start swelling around March/April. The salmon and egg rolls look delicious! You guys take care and God Bless.

You grew such beautiful celery! Mine was in-ground but had to be under shade cloth, was fertilized and was still puny but tasty. I managed to get it all chopped and frozen (then lost it in the freezer) and a lot of the leaves dehydrated. It's great you have a good, safe place to start seeds, I hope they all do great for you this year. Mr. Buddy's salmon steaks looked beautiful and your Cajun rice bowls did too! Thank you for the reminder about it being time to spray, I had forgotten! Our chief pest here is the wooly apple aphid and coddling moths. Hopefully the winter sprays will put the hurt on them. Hope your visit with the vampires went well today. Hope your week is blessed!

You and Danny and Wanda are getting me chomping at the bit to get seed starting! But it's a month at least too early for me here in n. Idaho! We are still getting some snow and staying mainly below freezing. I will be planting just a few varieties of tomatoes this year. Just my favorites this year on everything! My favorite big tomato for here is the Early girl. Great for slicing or canning and they ate pretty prolific on their fruit!!

I dehydrate celery and leaves. My Excalibur manual states that at 115 degrees - 120 degrees, it is considered raw and a living food and enzymes and nutrients are preserved. Looking online, I see that dehydrating preserves more nutrients than freezing.

Because I live in the mountains our last frost is behind most everybody else in Georgia. It's not yet time to get started here. I want some tomatoes again and I'm going to try for some green beans, yellow squash and bell peppers. We will see if I succeed at this container planting.
