Why not just flock the whole head black and paint the white chin strap afterwards? Wouldn't that be easier and more realistic?

I've not had great luck painting over black flocking, you can do it but if you want flocked chin straps i would just use white flocking and flock that also.

Use a respirator- that stuff is no beuno for the lungs
