Just a short walk into the jungle next to Hospital Hole is a spring. As kids, one of our chores was to take a 5-gallon water jug there, tie a rope around the neck of it, and fill it up. That would sit in an old water-cooler and provide us water for the weekend at our fish camp. We walked to Rogers Park down that little rock-paved road next to the entrance, as our camp was on the canal to the right of the park. I know every curve of that river! #RiverRat Rogers Park was an untended beach back then and a fair paradise for eight kids and their friends to enjoy all summer long. We had a boat house and dock because the nearest boat launch was down in Hernando.

Oh Wow. The manatee views were spectacular. I just bought a 3.5hp merc for my 10' Pelican Scorpio and launched at Rogers Park, bout 3 wks ago. Made it to within about a mile of the headspring and to the northernmost spot on the river, according to my google maps. Then went down to the Mud River before turning around, Had hoped to go to the next 2+ miles to the BayPort launch, but self control got the better of me. (Boat too small and 3.5hp won't plane). Started out with my extension handle going upriver, but upon meeting kayakers, decided I needed to sit next to the motor, so that I could switch to Neutral quickly and have a shorter turning radius. Great video of yours, Thanks !

what a beautiful river. I lived in Florida for 16 years and never saw it. FYI, sitting on the bow with your legs hanging over is called bow riding and is against the law. It is unsafe and you can be ticketed for it. If the person fell off, they could go under the boat and into the propeller.
@OverlandFlorida3 жыл бұрын
It's a beautiful area for sure. A change passed by the Florida Legislature in the winter 2016 session “redefines the definition of careless operation” of a vessel, said Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Rob Klepper. The law, HB 703, drops former rule language that said “bow riding or riding on the gunwale or transom where no seating is provided” can be defined by FWC enforcement officers as a violation constituting careless or reckless boat operation. New language says an act of careless operation must pose a threat to “another person outside the vessel.” That means bow-riding is allowed since the definition would not apply to a passenger who falls overboard and is in danger of getting hit by the boat’s hull or propeller.
