Brilliant advice! Last week I was stood in Lidl with my phone out comparing prices in other supermarkets working out if the larger box of teabags I wanted worked out cheaper per bag. It was 3.75p per teabag in Tesco and 2.6p in Lidl. I love shopping maths!! xxx

Well done with the mushrooms, they were on my list but I couldn’t find any with yellow stickers. Even the ones in the Lidl card with 15% of were not available. I did manage to get 3 packs of meat reduced from )2.99 to £1.20

You can put the dish soap in the smaller bottle if space is limited on your counter and store away the bigger bottle.

I only ever buy the big blocks of cheese, grate it myself then freeze it so I’ve always got some for sauces, toppings, sandwiches, jacket potatoes - I also only ever buy extra strong, because then I use less for the same amount of cheesy flavour in those things. I also don’t ever buy pre-flavoured meat, such as teriyaki or Chinese five-spice, because A) I haven’t liked a single one I’ve ever tried and B) I object to paying extra for a few spices when I have a cupboard full of cheap condiments bought at discount prices. If all I want is, say, some chicken to go into a curry or a sauce of some kind then I’ll buy drumsticks at 99p per kilo, pressure cook them to get the meat off the bones, and then use that for adding to the sauce - provides plenty of meat and the bones then get made into chicken stock with some veg scraps / peelings. The price of food has definitely increased but there are still ways and means to eat both cheaply and well, and it’s plain to see that you are very savvy in that regard.

@@lynnoorman2144 lentil soups are ok; recipes on internet. Use them to make vegetable “burgers” instead of other beans. Cook them with diced carrots, drain, and mix in tomato salsa for a side dish. That’s a Spanish way. You might want to look up an Egyptian recipe called kusherie. It uses every pan in the kitchen, but it’s worth the washing up.
