I have built this same generator enclosure and setup in my head over and over, just never got around to it. Lot of cool gadgets. Proximity readers and electric door strikes...really cool. I'm envious.

Very neat video! I’ll have to look into your generator setup there. I’m actually a ham radio operator in Nashville, TN and look to move somewhere once I graduate college and work with volunteer with local emergency groups and do radio stuff. Could use a generator if and when I make a building for radio stuff to have an emergency backup when the power goes out.

15:00 turbo diesels need the cool-down times to help cool off the turbo due to the heat built up in it from being under load... same idea if you've got a car/truck that's got a turbo under the hood, idle it for 10-15 minutes (or more dependent on how hard you were driving of course)... shutting down right after loading a turbo, is usually the way to kill it with premature oil seal failure and/or bearing failure which could lead to a runaway scenario (diesels are capable of running on any heavy oil, including motor oil)

Off topic but I go to one of the biggest high schools in Tennessee and they used Simplex Speaker strobes in the classrooms and the strobes only in the hallways and they have this circle thing on the roof which is a voice evac

Gfci on generators is the best but I did look online and it says not recomend to use surge protectors with GFCIs

@@nics-systems-electric you should get a Generac generator it can run on propane or natural gas and whenever the power goes out, you should have the fan come on whenever the generator comes on
