Here's a tip that comes from someone working in the retail field: If you want quantity, check with the manager to see if they have any unopened cases in the store room. It's easier to transport in the shipping boxes and you're not clearing the shelf after someone just spent a lot of time filling those shelves.

Have you ever contacted the store manager to see if they will order cases of stuff for you? Some places will do that at a discount for you...they don’t have to store it as long nor do they have to take the time to put stuff out on the shelves.

I save my carrot, celery and onion scraps in freezer bags just to use in broth. Yes you can compost those things but you can also use them to flavor your broth. I also just reuse the same freezer bags since the same things are going in them. Just an idea for folks. Save when you can 🙏

Hey yawl, do you have a garden? We did until the drought killed most of it. We have stocked up canning an preserving every year. We have been doing major shopping and stocking up as well. The home made tortilla is a great idea. Maybe add a little whole wheat flour to form gluten. This old chef is going to try that. Try roasting the beef bones before adding to the water. that will add depth of flavor. Applesauce oil replacement: muffins, pancakes, cookies, banana bread, brownies. 29 years as a chef and it works great! Rochelle does most of the baking and has used applesauce to replace oils. We love your channel and look forward to fellowship. God Bless you and your family. Mike

The apple sauce/oil swap thing never made sense to me. I don't understand why you'd want to take out the healthy fat and replace it with sugars? And regarding oil being "at best a processed food," is applesauce not processed to death? Not being snarky, I genuinely don't understand the benefit of this practice. Personally, I would think reducing sugars and, instead, zeroing in on certain types of oils and maxing out on the quality would be preferable, especially concerning inflammation. But maybe I'm missing something? I'd be interested to learn.

Yes@TheTexasBoys-Our Family Story I have subbed applesauce for oil and for eggs, I have both at the same time used applesauce and it isn't horrible however if you were out of oil and eggs and using applesauce puts some nuts or fruit to your breads/muffins, it just makes them more enjoyable. I learned this a long time ago and thought it was the bees knees. ;) Can't believe our parents didn't tell us these tidbits. smh. Glad we could share it with the world :) One of my childrens favorites it carob zucchini cookies. Girl they didn't last the evening in our house the first time. 7 children

Sorry to ask but I have not made it before so thought it's easier (and less stressful lol) if you were able to offer measurements too. Think you guys are awesome! In my prayers for life.. Donated to Darlene a couple hrs ago ... God bless you all😍🙏 (In regards to your beef broth or any broth, we were always taught that you add some vinegar as it breaks down the bone marrow and gives you so much more goodness and nutrition). I love using applesauce as a replacer in pancakes, waffles, pretty much any muffin, I do not like it in chocolate cakes or a vanilla cakes because sometimes the applesauce will take over the flavor of vanilla and chocolate. And I do not like it for oil replacer in brownies.

Pumpkin can also be used as an oil replacement.

I've used apple sauce to replace eggs didn't know about it substituting for oil. As for mayo not a fan more into miracle whip but I've made a mayo cake before and was delicious.

Do you have a Costco or Sam’s Club near you? They have 10# cans of pineapple that would save you money. You could open one, put in a big glass jar in fridge and just measure out 15 oz at a time. Or measure into 15 oz sizes when open the big can and put in little glass containers in fridge so ready to go.

Hopefully you have a generator, whether gasoline or solar.

With all the land you should grow some of the things you picked up.

@gary Montgomery It depends on what type of soil you have and if you have had it tested to see if there are the nutrients/pH you need for the vegetables you want to grow. I live in east Texas and have pure sugar sand with no nutrients. Plus, depending on the number of people working and the tasks that each has to do, do you have the bodies, energies and time to add a garden? I am a 66 year old ex - city woman who moved to a tiny ranch where I learned to breed and raise meat goats by myself after I retired. The chickens, kitten and guard dogs don't do much cleaning, cooking, canning or shopping or barn building. Yes, I built a 12ft x 24ft barn for the goats by myself - every nail, screw and cut board.m
