Ah, so sorry to hear about the kitty acclimation regression-hopefully things got/get/ smoothed back out again soon! Do you think he was actually trying to pick a fight or be bossy? Or do you think he was trying to play, and just not doing good at knowing when to stop or how to respect the boundaries of other kitties not as interested in playing? (idk - just the thoughts that popped in mind) Sometimes, it's actually when they start getting more comfy and confident that troubles can arise, too. (Like once they realize they are safe, and this place belongs to them-sometimes some kitties can get a little cocky or possessive) 🤔 Anyhow! Whatever the reason, I'm hoping it smooths/smoothed back out okay in the end-hiccups like that can be /frustrating/tough, but they're in good hands with you; Best wishes, to you all, and best of luck! ^^ 💜

aaaaaaand I need to run out to Crumbl immediately. I'm a little torn about Houston vs. Austin on food. There are things in Houston that are better but I can throw down on some Tex-Mex which I think is better here but if I'm having Cajun food (my 2nd favorite), the closer to Louisiana the better so there's that.

You made me feel so seen with your thoughts on Southern Book Club’s Guide! I have the same issue with every Grady Hendrix book I’ve read. He presents these ideas about women and sexism and then does nothing with said idea. So frustrating.

Ok side note regarding the Alyssa Cole novel “When No One is Watching”… I got halfway through the audiobook and had to DNF, because I could not handle the male narrator doing the women’s voices 🤣 I was intrigued by the story though so I will have to pick up the physical version

Had the same issues with Southern Book Club. I also thought none of the female characters had any distinguishable personality traits, which really contributed to how flat the messages felt. Plus I don't think the assault scene was necessary and it felt icky to read that from a male author

I really didn't like The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires because it was not scary in the slightest and the way he used racism and sexism felt exploitative. It felt like he used social issues to take the lazy route to emotionally invested readers, not because he was offering any valid commentary on the subject. My take on the book as a whole is cheap, boring, and lazy.
