One of my worst book this year was iron flame. For me this book was just filler, and it became obvious how the author expanded her idea of a duology in a 5 book series

Completely agree! The whole time I was reading I was wondering if the book had been edited at all. Half of it could have been removed and it wouldn’t affect the story whatsoever.
@Gracieroseyxox8 сағат бұрын
I totally agree with you

It definitely needed another round of editing. I think it was too rushed.

THANK YOU! As someone who is both autistic and asexual I get SO irritated how often authors seem to code characters as one/both of those without ever actually saying the terms so that they can skate by if the representation is bad by acting like they were just making a “quirky” character. I’m so over it. Tbh Ali Hazelwood does it too and it bothers me a lot, much as I love her books.
@cassiek6710 сағат бұрын
Came here to say this! I like most of Ali Hazelwood’s books, but all of her heroines seem to be autistic coded, and I wish just once she would come out and formally label one of them as such!

Chandler, You speak the truth about SJM books. I DNFed A Court Of Mist and Fury at 50% and won’t be reading any more books by her. Merry Christmas!❤

I completely agreed with your thoughts on Untamed back when I read it. I felt like I was the only one who was like “good for you for coming to all these realizations… but lol we already know all this” 😂

oh wow I really enjoyed Weyward! its funny how differently everyone perceives books haha

my worst books were probably the foxhole court (what a mess that was with such cringy writing) and the maid too, it felt like everything was happening to the main character and she was so passive through the whole thing
@t.a.summers16 сағат бұрын
I was just about to add The Rom-Commers to my TBR, but I might have to take it off. That feels like it wouldn't be my cuppa. I didn't like Thoughtless when I picked it up years ago.

Worst book I read this year (so far) was "The Bully I Hate". KU title bully romance that made me feel like my brain was broken. It was not ready for primetime.

I didn’t read as much as I normally do this year, but thankfully most of the books were pretty good. The worst one was also the first one I read. This Spells Love. It was too smutty and the characters were underdeveloped, and the protagonist was insufferable. The ending felt cheap and unearned.

unable to capture into words how much i despised magnolia parks: the long way home. hofas was comically bad, the ending… with the portal part… it’s physically impossible that they survived that i’m still pissed off actually 😭

ah i never got past the first magnolia parks book. i totally get the vision, but the execution fell flat for me

In comparison to other years there wasn’t many books I actually disliked. The worst books for me were probably Drowning Erin by Elizabeth O’Roark and Lies and Weddings by Kevin Kwan

these worst books videos at the end of the year fill my little hater heart and make it easier to be a lover the rest of the year. the single worst book I read this year was a selfpub I ARC read/reviewed in April... do you know how much it sucks to tell an extremely small creator that their book just sucks? my god I tried to be nice in that review but l wasn't gonna lie
@Nance196411 сағат бұрын
My worst book of this year was The Husbands by Holly Gramazio…ohhh it was just so ridiculous! Couldn’t stand the main character and just the entire book was so cringy🤪!! I wouldn’t recommend that nonsense to a single reader🤮!!

Most of the books I read were well written, but either extremely boring or disappointing. My two most disappointing reads were Delilah Green Doesn’t Care (absolutely nothingburger) and Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez :((. It started off so strong, but the third act angered me soooo much.

my least favorite book this year was The Ministry of Time 🥴 predictable, refused to comment on any major social discussions it brought up itself, and the romance was poorly done. especially painful since it was actually the first book I've ever won in a GR Giveaway 😭
@sappho482815 сағат бұрын
i think my least favourite read this year was the cheat sheet by sarah adams !! i'd heard really good things about her romances, but i don't think i've ever found a main character more insufferable. the romance wasn't even good

I've got a tie for my worst book of the year: -Interesting Facts About Space by Emily R. Austin (plotless and jumpy in a way that detracted from any emotional payoff) -A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross (some of the worst writing I've encountered)

i think it's going to have to be Sophie Jordan's The Duchess for me this year... I have loved books from her in the past but that one was not it.

👏👏👏 I completely agree with everything you said for House of Flame and Shadow. I think I'm done with Sarah J. Maas now, Crescent City was my favourite series of hers, and this book just sucked.

I’m *shocked* so many people liked The Rom-Comers, I *hated* that book. I DNFed it multiple times and only powered through because I wasted a BOTM audiobook credit on it.

My worst books this year were Stuffed (which is a literal living pillow romance that I read because I was in a slump), Just one damned thing after another which I had to read for Uni, All I want is everything, which is the third book in the Gossip girl book series (the books are almost completely different to the show) and Devil's pass, which is the prequel of the Harlequin Crew series.

My least fav book I read this year was Pucking Around. Not the authors fault, it just wasn’t my cup of tea and I should’ve looked into it more before I started it. Some thriller about a stranger in the lake. And ta dum… The Secret Life of Addie LaRue. I know everybody loves this book but it was a complete disappointment for me.

i didn't vibe with addie larue either!

I can't speak to the rep in The Maid but the ending was one of the most perplexing things. I think Wolfsong was my worst read this year. Cannot get myself interested in a book where the love interest is 10 for like 40% of the book.
@yukiasiandream748316 сағат бұрын
Hi love your videos, just wondering if you have read LightLark cause it's the second book that I am reading that made me fall in love with reading again. Merry Christmas 😊
@banannakis67239 сағат бұрын
Oh, I hated The Maid, the thing that made me the angriest is that the author acted like neurodivergent was like a light switch that could be turned on/off to suit the plot. My worst books are tied with Lord Edgware Dies and How To Solve Your Own Murder, both are just incredibly stupid.

Idk my worst book but I DNFd waaayyy more this year

The only one of the six I read was Weyward and I really liked it, usually when there are different timelines I will like one character and timeline and not the others but I was invested in all three stories, It didn't work for you, and that is fine, we all have different tastes. My most disappoinint book of the year was Hard by a Great Forest by Leo Vardiashvili.

The worst book I read this year is Worse Than Enemies by JL Beck. The heroine was so nosy and honestly straight up stupid. And the hero was the most unromantic piece of garbage 😃
