Es tut mir leid für das MALIZIA Team und für Boris, das so viel schief ging. Blitz Einschlag, Bruch vom Vorstag und dem Foil. Trotzdem wird er ins Ziel kommen, wie all die anderen Helden der See und das ist gut. Denn: die Vandee Globe ist wieder einmal ein Botschafter für einen geilen Sport, für Fairness und für den Umweltschutz.

The Atlantic Ocean hasn´t been nice to Boris this time. Everything went pretty "smooth" up to Cape Hoorn and I thought the worst lays behind but... little did I know. I´m so sorry for Boris and the other unlucky sailors but I think it´s part of the challenge.I wish everyone a save arrival at Les Sable d´Olonne. Well done all of you! Great job with the foil btw!!!

‘A Race We Must Win” is surely one of the main reasons for you competing in the Vendee Globe. The slogan will have reached parts of the world which otherwise would not be aware of the challenges ahead. The fact you are communicating with scientists and schools is wonderful. The resilience and determination you have shown to overcome your difficulties is exactly what is required to ‘Win That Race.’ I hope the weather gods are kind to you for the last miles to Les Sables. ,Ahoi Boris - over the last few days I couldn't think of anything I could have written to encourage you or cheer you up. But you have aleady achieved one issue 100% : You have proved everyone wrong who anticipated the VG was just a sporting event with a bit of wind, water and waves. You left nothing out on this "long and winding 'road" to show the full hardness of this cruel regatta, both physically and mentally - and you showed admirable standing. The final leg to Sables d'Olonne will certainly come up with some additional challenges in difficult conditions, but the goal now is no longer to place but to arrive safely. Good to know your great team of dedicated Malizians will continue to take good care of you as they have been doing during the entire race. Fair winds skipper and occasionally listen to your love song for Malizia: "Broken Wings" by Mr.Mister - Good Luck!

It starts to show that carbon fiber is not the best material for this. Definitely not the most eco friendly. It is similar to plastic, so when those bits end up in the ocean, they stay there forever. If some larger animal accidentally swallows one or two, those bits ruin their intestine terminally. Glad you didn't start to cut it, the dust is carsinogenic.
